LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a candid revelation, Kylie Jenner has shared the deeply personal reason it took her an entire year to decide on a name for her son Aire Webster.

The 27-year-old reality star, who has been open about her experiences as a young mother, recently discussed her battle with postpartum depression in an interview with British Vogue.

The youngest of the Jenner sisters, who shares daughter Stormi, 6, and son Aire, 2, with ex-partner, Travis Scott, explained that the postpartum period after giving birth to each of her children was uniquely challenging.

Kylie and Travis welcomed their son Aire on February 2, 2022, at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.

"It hit me differently both times," said 'The Kardashian' star, describing how she experienced "major baby blues" following the birth of her son, according to Hollywood Gossip

Reflecting on the year it took to finally choose Aire's name, Kylie admitted that the postpartum depression she faced played a significant role in the delay.

"I was on the phone with my mom all day, hysterically crying, saying, 'I can't figure out his name,'" recalled the 27-year-old.

She added, "When I met him, he was just the most beautiful thing to me, and I couldn’t believe just how perfect he was. I felt like such a failure that I couldn’t name him. He deserved so much more than that. It just really triggered me."

After a year of emotional ups and downs, Kylie finally settled on the name Aire.

Now, with the wisdom gained from her experience, she offers a crucial piece of advice to her expecting friends: choose the baby’s name before giving birth. "Because when the hormones hit, you can’t make decisions," noted the Kylie Cosmetics founder.

Kylie and Travis, who were first linked in April 2017, had called it quits in October 2019. However, they rekindled their romance in the summer of 2021. But, things didn't last long as they parted ways again in late 2022.

However, this time they're finally done for good and Kylie Jenner has been dating Timothee Chalamet since 2023. They made their romance public at Beyonce's Renaissance concert in Los Angeles in September 2023.

Kylie Jenner says she's finally feeling like herself again

Kylie Jenner's story is not uncommon.

A survey of 4,000 parents and parents-to-be by BabyCenter, an online pregnancy and parenting platform, found that most parents decide on their baby’s name during the second trimester.

However, 17% of respondents wait until the day their baby arrives, and 8% delay the decision for a few days—or even weeks—after birth.

"I’m going to be 27, and I’m finally feeling like myself again," explained Kylie to British Vogue.

She expressed, "And [looking back] I think, being pregnant, I wore sweatpants every day, I didn’t have time to figure out even some of the little things in my life, and then postpartum lasted a year. Mentally, it’s really hard. Hormonally, it’s really hard."

The Kylie Cosmetics founder also shared that before finally settling on the name Aire, her son was briefly called Knight.

Kylie, who has recently been more vocal about the intense scrutiny and online hate she faces, also reflected on how motherhood has transformed her outlook on life.

"No matter what I’m going through or what I look like or what the internet writes about me that day. I come home and my kids just love me unconditionally. They’re just obsessed with me, and that’s taught me to walk through life a little easier," noted the mother of two.
