Lady Gaga announces release date of latest album 'Harlequin', ends her 4-year break from music

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lady Gaga has shared the release date of her upcoming album ‘Harlequin'!

The singer-actress announced over social media, “Harlequin. September 27. A companion album to Joker: Folie a Deux,” as she posted the cover image.

This also means that the ‘Bad Romance’ singer is returning from a four-year hiatus with her latest work, after 2020’s ‘Chromatica'.

The title of the album is based on her character in ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’, in which she stars along with Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck.

“I wouldn’t necessarily say that this is actually a musical in a lot of ways. It’s very different,’ Gaga earlier told during the Venice Film Festival, per Variety.

She added, “The way that music is used is to really give the characters a way to express what they needed to say because saying it is not enough.”

Filmmaker Todd Phillips also joined, saying, “It’s just Arthur not having the words to say what he wants to say, so he sings them instead. I just don’t want people to think that it’s like In the Heights, where the lady in the bodega starts to sing and they take it out onto the street, and the police are dancing," before adding, “No disrespect, because I loved In the Heights.”
