Queen Elizabeth wouldn't have approved of Prince William's emotional bonding with George, says royal expert
LONDON, ENGLAND: Prince William gave off the impression of being a loving father to Prince George while attending the UEFA European Championship on Sunday, July 14.
However, according to royal biographer Angela Levin, the late Queen Elizabeth would not put up with his 'emotional' activities.
This royal father-son outing came after the men's singles Wimbledon final, attended by Princess Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte amid Kate's ongoing battle with cancer.
Royal expert claims Queen Elizabeth 'would not have liked the emotion' Prince William showed at Euros
Royal analyst Angela Levin claimed that Queen Elizabeth "would not have liked the emotion" that Prince William displayed when he hugged his son following England's defeat in the Euros on Sunday.
Prince William and Prince George were distraught after England's heartbreaking loss to Spain in the UEFA European Championship 2024 on Sunday.
The team led by Gareth Southgate lost a late goal as Spain won their first major championship in 12 years. The Prince of Wales and his oldest son observed the valiant fight between England and a strong Spanish team.
William hugged his son in comfort after the team's defeat. Levin addressed the adorable occasion on GB News, saying, "What was absolutely wonderful was to see to see William with George."
Levin added, "George seemed happy, they were both in navy suits and had the same ties."
"Hold their face and cheer. I thought if the late Queen had been here, she would not have been pleased, because there was a lot of emotion shown here," the royal biographer added.
The Queen was known for her unwaveringly austere parenting style, while William and Kate are often praised for their realistic parenting approach.
"She didn't like it, she had a stiff upper lip. She would never do this, you'd never see her hugging the children," Levin said.
"This is a new generation. And they hugged each other for all they were worth. And I thought this was wonderful for William. He's had a hard time. And he's got a son who's just like him. It's wonderful."
Prince William and Kate Middleton are passionate sports enthusiasts
Historian Hugo Vickers previously praised Wales for leveraging their passion for sports to demonstrate their commitment to the United Kingdom.
"When these things come up, they attend if they can. Kate and William's love for the country is quite evident. How this contrasts with the public perception of Harry and Meghan's relationship with the country — well, this is all very sad," Vickers remarked.
William is the president of the football association, while Kate is the patron of the All England Club, per OK! Magazine.
Vickers said, "And that is what William and Catherine do. They're supporting the King who cannot do everything. They take on special areas of interest. And that's what we'll be seeing them doing tomorrow. That's the that's the big difference."
"We see them supporting interests very close to their hearts. In his case, the football in her case, the tennis," Vickers said, "The most supportive, the most successful members of the royal family are those who support the monarch."
Prince William serves as the President of the Football Association and attended three England matches this summer including the championship match. The Prince of Wales has been a strong supporter of England throughout the competition.
Apart from their travels, an insider revealed that William is trying to strike a balance between his responsibilities to Kate and their three children, Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte, and George.
The source revealed, "He’s shouldered a lot of the responsibilities, and, what’s more, he seems to be having fun doing it. Kate has seen the change, and she’s genuinely touched by all that he’s doing, not just for her, but for the children."
