LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham has lauded Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker for his recent foray into political discourse, marking a notable departure from her previous stance regarding athlete activism.

Ingraham's praise comes in stark contrast to her past admonishment of LeBron James when he voiced political opinions.

Harrison Butker's bold commencement address sparks controversy

Butker, a devout Catholic, seized the spotlight with a politically charged commencement speech at Benedictine College in Kansas.

Addressing the audience, Butker emphasized traditional values, stating, "Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world. But I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world."

The kicker continued by stating that being a homemaker is "one of the most significant titles" for women to possess.

The kicker didn't shy away from controversial topics, condemning practices such as in vitro fertilization, surrogacy, and LGBTQ+ pride marches, while also criticizing what he deemed as "degenerate cultural values", abortion, and President Joe Biden's policies.

Butker drew widespread ire over the speech after it went viral online.

Laura Ingraham changes her stance on athlete activism

In 2018, when NBA stars LeBron James criticized then-President Donald, Laura Ingraham infamously told him to "shut up and dribble", dismissing his opinions due to his athletic profession.

“The No. 1 job in America, the appointed person is someone who doesn’t understand the people,”James had remarked during an interview about then-President Donald Trump.

He also said some of Trump's statements were "laughable and scary".

At the time, Ingraham reacted on her show by describing James' comments as "barely intelligible".

“It’s always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid $100 million a year to bounce a ball. Keep the political comments to yourselves,” she said. “Shut up and dribble.”

However, Ingraham's recent reaction to Butker's speech reflects a shift in her stance. Instead of silencing him, she commended his courage in speaking out against what she perceives as a dominant "woke secularist" narrative in media, corporate America, and academia.

In her commentary, Ingraham highlighted Butker's emphasis on his Christian faith, stating, "At a time, though, when woke secularists dominate media, corporate America, Hollywood, and most universities, being a public witness to your Christian faith? Now that takes courage because speaking out may actually mean that you lose everything."

Butker's speech also criticized IVF and Biden's stance on abortion, which Ingraham omitted from her remarks.

Ingraham also criticized the media and the NFL for their responses to Butker's speech, particularly condemning the league for disassociating itself from his views. She further chastised the NFL for its handling of other controversies within the organization.

Internet reacts to Laura Ingraham praising Harrison Butker for his controversial views

The social media responses reflect a tide of criticism aimed at Laura Ingraham, highlighting perceived hypocrisy in her treatment of athletes who express political views.

One user wrote, "Yeah, she should be at home and in the kitchen."

Another said, " Lol but she told lebron to shut up and dribble."

One replied, "Why is Laura even talking then? Get back home and having babies where he said you belong."

One asked, "So is Laura quitting her job to stay home?"

Another said, "Then @IngrahamAngle should sit her butt at home making dinner and babies.
