ATCHISON, KANSAS: Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker drew ire as he attacked Pride Month, transgender people, and the coronavirus pandemic, during his commencement address at Benedictine College.

The NFL player also urged women to embrace traditional roles, telling them to get back in the kitchen, as he took the stage at the Catholic private liberal arts school in Atchison, Kansas.

Harrison Butker believes bad policies and poor leadership have negatively impacted major life issues

Butker began his 20-minute speech by sharing his opinion about Pride Month and "dangerous gender ideologies," as per USA Today

The 28-year-old  said, "Not the deadly sins sort of Pride that has an entire month dedicated to it but the true God-centered pride that is cooperating with the holy ghost to glorify him."

Talking about the Covid-19 pandemic, the Chiefs player noted, "While COVID might have played a large role throughout your formative years, it is not unique."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 1.2 million died in the US alone owing to the pandemic.

"The bad policies and poor leadership have negatively impacted major life issues. Things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, as well as growing support for the degenerate cultural values and media all stem from the pervasiveness of disorder," shared Butker, echoing the statements touted by conservatives.

Harrison Butker praises his wife for leaning into traditional gender roles as he urges women to embrace the 'homemaker' title

Attacking the changing gender roles, Butker said, "I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and a mother. I’m on this stage, and able to be the man I am, because I have a wife who leans into her vocation."

The football player continued, "I’m beyond blessed with the many talents God has given me, but it cannot be overstated that all of my success is made possible because a girl I met in band class back in middle school would convert to the faith, become my wife, and embrace one of the most important titles of all: homemaker."

"I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolic lies told to you. Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world," further expressed Butker.

The kicker, who has been with the Chiefs since 2017, got married to Isabelle in 2018.

Internet chastizes Harrison Butker over his Benedictine College speech

Several netizens took to Reddit to slam Butker, with one saying, "Oh brother this guy stinks."

"Kickers aren’t role models. They’re usually failed soccer players," quipped a person and someone else noted, "Don't just condemn him. Condemn the administrator who gave him a platform."

"He took a speech that should have been congratulating the graduates, and turned it into a self-congratulatory ode to himself," fumed an individual.

Another person expressed, "This is disgusting…giving this speech to women who are graduating from COLLEGE!" "I'd rather be in Kicker Purgatory than have a kicker who thinks I belong in hell," noted one more.

"Oh good, suddenly I feel a lot better that we didn't retain this douche. The douchebaggery here is off the charts on multiple levels," stated a netizen, referring to the football player's stint with the Carolina Panthers.
