Laura Ingraham says Pam Bondi became ‘political liability’ before Trump decided to fire her
WASHINGTON, DC: Fox News host Laura Ingraham says Attorney General Pam Bondi’s exit was not sudden, but the result of mounting frustration inside the White House, ultimately making her a “political liability” for President Donald Trump.
Speaking on ‘The Ingraham Angle’ on Thursday, April 2, Ingraham broke down what she described as Bondi’s rise and fall, just hours after Trump confirmed her departure and transition to a private sector role.
While acknowledging Bondi’s loyalty and achievements, Ingraham suggested that a series of missteps proved too difficult for the administration to overlook.
Ingraham: Perhaps, the most scathing criticism of Bondi was about her handling of the Epstein files. During the campaign, the president made a clear promise to voters that those files would come out. And when he won, he handed that responsibility to Bondi. pic.twitter.com/kkKSKUE2eD

Laura Ingraham points to growing frustration with Pam Bondi
Ingraham said Trump’s dissatisfaction had been building over time, especially as negative headlines began to stack up.
“But, President Trump nevertheless had grown increasingly frustrated by other headlines like this,” she said, referencing criticism tied to Bondi’s handling of sensitive records.
She highlighted what she described as errors and inconsistencies, including issues related to document redactions and information shared with lawmakers.
According to Ingraham, these moments chipped away at confidence in Bondi’s leadership, even as she remained a close ally of the president.
Epstein files handling becomes central issue
A major point of criticism, Ingraham argued, was Bondi’s handling of files connected to Jeffrey Epstein, which had drawn scrutiny from multiple directions.
She revisited a past moment that had gained attention, when Bondi claimed that a client list was readily available.
The segment also included criticism attributed to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, which Ingraham described as particularly damaging.
“First, she gave them binders full of nothingness, and then she said the witness list or client list was on her desk. There is no client list, and it sure as well wasn’t on her desk,” Ingraham said, quoting Wiles.
She added that, in Washington terms, the situation had reached a tipping point.
“In Washington parlance, the ever loyal Pam Bondi had become a political liability,” Ingraham said.
Loyalty not enough to overcome setbacks
Despite the criticism, Ingraham made it clear that Bondi still had strong support in some circles, including her own.
“One day you’re up. The next day, you’re down. A lot of folks really like Pam Bondi. I consider her a friend,” she said.
She also described Bondi as loyal and committed to the administration.
“I think she is a patriot to this country. And she certainly has been extremely loyal to President Trump,” Ingraham added.
However, she stressed that loyalty alone could not outweigh the growing concerns within the White House.
“But the frustrations on his part were impossible to ignore,” she said.
Trump confirmed Bondi’s departure on Thursday, stating that she would be moving into a new role outside government.
The decision marked a significant shift at the Department of Justice, with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stepping in as acting attorney general while a permanent replacement is considered.
