WASHINGTON, DC: Laura Ingraham, host of 'The Ingraham Angle' on Fox News, issued a stark warning to Republicans about the state of the 2026 midterm elections on Tuesday, November 25.

She said that “the midterms right now look ugly", arguing that unless the GOP “really get serious,” the party could be in for a rough showing.

Laura Ingraham highlights rising Democratic momentum

Ingraham pointed to a series of off-year election results as evidence that Democrats are gaining momentum nationwide.

She noted that Democrats flipped the governorship in Virginia and added 13 seats to their majority in the state's House of Delegates.

Meanwhile, they maintained control of the governorship in New Jersey and held the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

In California, voters approved a ballot measure empowering the state legislature to redraw congressional districts a move seen as potentially favorable to Democrats.

Moreover, in New York, a Democratic Socialist won mayoral election, becoming the first Muslim mayor of the city.

Ingraham invoked historical precedent to warn Republicans. She reminded viewers that the incumbent president’s party typically fares poorly in midterms.

For instance, during President Trump’s first term in 2018, Republicans lost 42 seats in the House.

Laura Ingraham and Mark Meadows' warning to GOP

Ingraham pointed specifically to the case of Jay Jones, the Democratic Attorney General-Elect in Virginia.

Jones defeated the Republican incumbent by seven points in November despite an October revelation that he had sent violent text messages about a former Republican lawmaker.

She emphasized, “We had Jay Jones in Virginia win after it was divulged that he wished his opponent to be murdered and his opponent’s children to be murdered … That guy wins … five points in the end. So, if that can happen, that’s fairly recently that he said that.”

Ingraham’s guest on the show, Mark Meadows, former chief of staff to Trump, chimed in to highlight a pivotal upcoming race - a special election on December 2 in Tennessee’s 7th congressional district.

The seat, previously held by a Republican, is being contested after the resignation of the former representative. Historically a safe Republican district, it is now being heavily targeted by Democrats hoping to ride the wave from November’s successes.

Meadows warned that Democrats are “hoping to catch Nashville and the surrounding counties asleep.”

He raised concerns about voter engagement, "Low voter turnout, and they think that they can creep in and actually elect someone who doesn’t like Nashville, who is not for law enforcement, and has unbelievable, crazy ideas."

Stressing on the national implications of the situation, he also added, “But it’s not just happening in Nashville. We should be concerned. It should be a five-alarm fire across the country.”
