DENVER, COLORADO: Rep Lauren Boebert is getting a lot of criticism from her own political base after being seen with Democratic Gov Jared Polis at a Colorado Rockies Opening Day game.

The argument started when Boebert and Polis both posted a picture of themselves at Coors Field, wearing team colors and smiling as they celebrated the start of the baseball season.

Both Polis and Boebert shared a photo of themselves at the game decked out in purple, white and black Rockies attire.

"The @rockies and baseball bring people together! Go Rockies! W @laurenboeber," wrote a cheery Polis on X.

"Opening day in Colorado! Play ball and Free Tina!" a smiling Boebert wrote on X, referring to a former Mesa County clerk and Republican politician who became famous across the country for her part in a 2021 election security breach that was linked to attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Tina Peters was found guilty in state court and given a nine-year prison sentence. Donald Trump has attacked Polis many times for not giving her clemency.

A bipartisan moment sparks outrage

What could have been a normal, even symbolic moment of bipartisanship quickly became a political flashpoint.

Many people who support the MAGA movement were very angry and criticized Boebert for being seen with the well-known Democrat.

There were a lot of comments on social media, with some people questioning her loyalty and others saying she had betrayed core conservative values.

A user named Jay shot back, "So you're a Democrat now" Boebert was forced to clarify, "Never."

The user GenX Tim wrote, "I question your morals hanging out with the king of colorado loose bowel energy."

The user Dmamoosh wrote on X, “Ugg Lauren.. come on. We are not into the working with each other crap. This guy has destroyed our state."

The user Donovan wrote on X, "Why are you hanging out with the governor who won't release Tina Peters? The fact he's a Democrat is no big deal... It's the fact he has an innocent women in jail."

The event shows how hard it is for politicians from both parties to work together in today's divided political climate.

In the past, public officials have often been seen together at sporting events and civic events, but now people often look at these interactions through a partisan lens.

Boebert has a reputation as a combative and outspoken conservative voice, and the backlash shows what her political base wants from her.
