'Incredible honor': LeBron James gets selected as Team USA's male flagbearer for Paris Olympics
PARIS, FRANCE: LeBron James has been picked as Team USA’s Male Flagbearer at the 2024 Summer Olympics!
The Basketball legend will proudly lead the athletes during the Parade of Nations at the Paris Games on Friday, July 26.

LeBron James, 39, became the only men's basketball player to carry the American flag at the Olympics opening ceremony.
“It’s an incredible honor to represent the United States on this global stage, especially in a moment that can bring the whole world together,” James said in a statement via Team USA.
“For a kid from Akron, this responsibility means everything to not only myself, but to my family, all the kids in my hometown, my teammates, fellow Olympians and so many people across the country with big aspirations," he added.

“Sports have the power to bring us all together, and I’m proud to be a part of this important moment,” the four-time NBA champion added.
It was his teammate and another special talent Steph Curry who broke the news to James, as shown in the clip on Instagram, per People.
"We understand how much of an honor it is to be in that position and I think Bron’s entire career, on and off the court, speaks for itself as him being worthy of that honor,” Curry said in his nomination video.
“He has represented what it means to be excellent both on and off the court in his commitment to service and to uplifting the community in all ways that he knows how has been a lifelong passion. And the work speaks for itself," he continued.

Who nominated LeBron James for Team USA flagbearer?
Interestingly, it was Steph Curry who nominated LeBron James as the flagbearer chosen by Team USA by voting.
This is James' fourth appearance at the Olympics, and he won medals in his previous three outings, gold in London (2012) and Beijing (2008) and bronze in Athens (2004).
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has taken up the job to coach the team at the Paris Olympics.
The other team members for the men’s national team roster, other than James and Curry, include Bam Adebayo, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Haliburton, Jrue Holiday, Kawhi Leonard and Jayson Tatum.
