MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: After a disappointing book tour cut short, Kristi Noem opted to halt interviews, making an exception only for 'Gutfeld!' but later canceled it because of "bad weather."

"We were supposed to have Kristi Noem on the show tonight, but she canceled," announced the Fox News host at the start of the Tuesday, May 7, episode.

Reportedly, the South Dakota governor abruptly ended her troubled book tour, cutting short a scheduled promotional trip to Washington, DC, in order to return to her state.

A source told The Daily Beast that her team specifically cited a snowstorm in her home state as the reason for canceling the Fox News appearance.

On his show, Gutfeld continued, "Her staff blamed bad weather. We go to locals for reaction." The scene quickly shifted to a sunny day at a swimming pool filled with playful dogs.

Gutfled was on full-throttle as he landed one joke after the other at Noem's expense.

The host then said, "Who knows why she canceled? When we asked how her week had been going, she replied, 'Ruff.'"

To add context, the governor has encountered criticism from both Democrats and Republicans after an excerpt from her upcoming book revealed that she shot and killed her dog, Cricket.

Moving on with the segment, Gutfeld again mentioned, "Maybe it was bad weather. I heard it was raining cats and dogs. I tried to convince her to stay and do the show, even telling her my dog had had all his shots. She replied, 'Not yet, he hasn’t.'"

"She didn’t just shoot the dog she screwed the pooch," further quipped the Fox News anchor.

He continued, "She faces controversy from her new book, CBS News now claims she’s in the doghouse with MAGA – but now we know there is plenty of room."

Gutfeld tried to explain his joke by saying that the doghouse is roomier as the dog is dead.

Next, the Fox News host then brought up the White House's response to Noem's dog-killing scandal, saying, "Karine Jean-Pierre blasted Noem or suggesting that Biden's dog, Commander, also be put down. It was a good strategy for Noem to get others to shoot dogs to blend in."

After Noem suggested during an interview that Commander should be put down due to biting incidents, the White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre blasted her remarks, noting, "We find them absurd. And, and here – this is a country that loves dogs. And you have a leader talking about putting dogs down, killing them. And that's a disturbing statement," as per Daily Mail

She suggested, "I would say her she should probably stop digging herself in a hole,"

Netizens express strong disapproval of Greg Gutfeld dissing Kristi Noem

After the video of the 'Gutfeld!' episode was shared on Fox News' YouTube channel, viewers started to share their perspectives on the matter, with one saying, "For just one mistake you all forgot what she did during pandemic."

Another highlighted, "So it's a working dog that was killing livestock, bet these people think "well it's only attacked 3 kids so far," and a person remarked, "What's journalism lost? It's integrity."

"The Noem jokes got annoying quickly. There's no reason to dump on her like that," expressed an individual, while someone else declared, "Leave Nome alone."
