LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Leonardo DiCaprio is allegedly at odds with Margot Robbie’s unprecedented success and is annoyed that he is being constantly asked about his prodigy. 

Though DiCaprio, 49, and Robbie, 33, were friendly in the past after starring in two movies together, the ‘Titanic’ star is allegedly not taking the actress’ success cin a good note. 

According to a source who recently shared with Life & Style, DiCaprio is groaning that he has rather created a monster with Robbie. 

More than a decade ago, the method actor of Hollywood discovered Robbie and the duo starred together in the 2013 hit ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’. Now, as per the sources, ‘The Great Gatsby’ star reportedly thinks him to be his greatest competitor.

Leonardo DiCaprio thinks Margot Robbie to be his competitor

An insider close to the Hollywood behemoth, recently shared with the outlet, “Margot went from being Leo’s discovery and prodigy 10 years ago in The Wolf of Wall Street to being his biggest direct competition in 2023 and the irony isn’t lost on him.”

They continued, “As great as Barbie has been for the whole industry with getting people back to movie theaters, that’s not the kind of movie Leo likes to make. He thought it was massively overrated.”

After their initial collaboration in 2013, the two co-stars connected again in Martin Scorsese’s 2019 project, ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’.

Moving forward, as 2023 proved to be one of the biggest years for Robbie following her massive success with ‘Barbie’, DiCaprio’s 2023 outing “got buried” in comparison to the Mattel drama. 

In 2023, as Robbie was reeling in the success of Barbie, the ‘Inception; star too starred in a megaproject of his own - ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ directed by Scorsese. 

Referring to the movie, the insider added, “It was especially frustrating after the years of work [they] put into the movie, which got buried and nothing near the credit [Leo] felt it deserved,” before adding, “So it’s annoying that people are constantly asking him about Barbie.”

They shared that competing with ‘Barbie’ for accolades was “something Leo never envisioned while he was fighting to get this movie made,” and noted, “It’s his worst nightmare that Margot, of all people, is behind it.”

While the alleged rift is a recent thing (and we hope it would go away soon), the two stars praised each other quite commendably during their promotional tour of their 2019 flick, per Elle

During an interview with Australian TV show ‘The Sunday Project’, DiCaprio recalled working with the ‘I, Tonya’ actress, saying, “On Wolf of Wall Street, seeing Margot come in and read that scene with me I just knew I was witnessing a dynamic presence in cinema that was about to be.”



 

“[Martin] Scorcese and myself were blown away by how much she gave back to the scene, fought back and we bot immediately knew she was going to have an incredible career,” continued the Oscar-winning actor. 

Robbie too reciprocated the admiration, as she said, “I couldn't believe it happened the first time,” before adding, “Then when I went to work with Leo again it was kind of ridiculous.”
