As Jack’s condition worsened, he turned to a GoFundMe campaign for assistance, hoping to reach a goal of £77,600 ($99,871) to cover medical expenses and living costs.
With treatment causing extreme fatigue and isolation, Jack described how challenging his journey has been.
“I’m definitely at war with boredom and anxiety most of the time,” he admitted, adding that the struggle often leaves him without energy for even simple activities.
To cope, Jack has turned to writing and recording music, a therapeutic outlet that helps him find solace on better days.
To his amazement, Jack’s fundraiser received an outpouring of support, raising £26,300 ($33,845) thus far, but one donation stood out.
Hours before his death, Payne, 31, donated £2,300 ($2,958) to Jack’s fund, a gesture Jack initially doubted was real.
“I thought it was a prank or someone donating under a false name,” he recalled.
However, once news broke of Payne’s tragic death, it became clear that the donation was genuine.

“Once we started seeing other reputable sources saying Liam had donated to my GoFundMe, it became sort of surreal. I’m so thankful, and I feel extremely lucky,” he said.
The knowledge that Payne, who had his own share of struggles, extended his kindness in his final hours touched Jack deeply.
“Knowing he was able to find some sort of peace through the love and support he provided to other people in his final moments truly warmed my heart,” Jack shared.
