Following his death, Payne’s body was being held at a British cemetery in Buenos Aires as local police conducted extensive inquiries, including a search of the Casa Sur Hotel where he had been staying.

Reports indicate that officials have been probing whether Payne was under the influence of substances, potentially in a state of unconsciousness, at the time of his fall, as reported by the Daily Mail.

While Payne’s family initially expected a quick repatriation, the investigation took longer than anticipated, delaying his return to the UK. Now, three weeks after the tragedy, paperwork for the singer’s body has been finalized. Sources revealed that Payne’s funeral is expected to be held at St Paul’s Cathedral in his hometown of Wolverhampton.

Payne’s girlfriend, influencer Kate Cassidy, shared a heartfelt tribute to him, expressing that they had intended to marry next year. Cassidy had left Argentina just two days before Payne’s death.
