LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jeremy Renner, the 53-year-old actor, recently shared how his friend and former co-star, Robert Downey Jr, was a constant motivation in ICU for him following a snowplow accident in 2023.

Renner revealed that the 58-year-old actor frequently checked in on him during his recovery from the various injuries he sustained in the incident.

Robert Downey Jr's support felt like dating to Jeremy Renner

The 'Hawkeye' star mentioned that Robert Downey Jr's FaceTime calls felt like they were dating.

“We ended up having really great chats on FaceTime like we were dating or something,” Renner recalled during an interview with People.

The actor, who was nearly crushed to death outside his Nevada home on January 1, 2023, suffered “other-worldly pain” during his recovery, he told the publication but then there was Downey.

Robert Downey Jr's heartwarming ways to lift Jeremy Renner up

Downey, known for his role in 'Iron Man' and 'Oppenheimer', was there to lift Renner’s spirits.

“He’s like, ‘Dude, the most important thing is you look good. I don’t care how you feel, as long as you look good that’s all that matters,’” Renner remembered.

Downey and his wife, Susan, who are big fans of Renner-starring ‘Mayor Of Kingstown’, motivated him to recuperate sooner.

“He’s like, ‘You’ve got to get back to do Mayor, because we need to see what happens,’” Renner said, adding, “His ways are very heartwarming.”

Jeremy Renner’s brief hiatus from Hollywood following 2023 accident

Renner and Downey have co-starred as 'Hawkeye' and 'Iron Man' in numerous entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the 'Avengers' film series.

They also reprised their roles in the 2016 superhero film 'Captain America: Civil War'.

However, Renner, the star of 'The Hurt Locker', took a brief hiatus from his film career after his snowplow accident on New Year’s Day in 2023

According to CNN, Renner was injured after he attempted to stop his snowplow from hitting his nephew and ended up being crushed by the vehicle.

He was admitted to the ICU, and in January 2023, he revealed that more than 30 bones were broken in the accident.

Jeremy Renner's message for everyone after enduring the recovery

Last month, Jeremy Renner posted a message for those suffering from failures and obstacles.

Renner took to Instagram and posted a selfie from a car and wrote, "Checking in with this thought. All of the obstacles, the problems, and failures are my allies of whom pour the foundation where my successes are built… to anyone who is struggling with failures or overwhelming obstacles, I wish and will upon you a powerful belief that you are not alone… and collectively we can move MOUNTAINS !!! #blessyouall #loveandtitanium."
