LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘The Exorcist’ star Linda Blair’s house, located in Southern California, was searched by government officials on Friday, July 31, for a reported kennel operation.

The search was reportedly made under an inspection warrant, and it was carried out by the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) and the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning.

Linda Blair's house raided to 'verify compliance with County codes'

An official statement read, “The goal is to inspect this property for buildings and structures associated with a kennel operation reported to have more than 100 dogs. The warrant allows us to lawfully access the property and verify compliance with County codes.”

The DACC further stated that via the search operation it was determining “animal care, safety conditions, and overall welfare of the dogs housed on the property.”

“Our priority is the safety and well-being of both the animals on the property and the people who may be working or residing here. This inspection will help us determine whether conditions meet required standards,” it added.

DACC denies sharing more information on the investigation

But the DACC also refrained from revealing more details about the probe.

“As this is an active and ongoing investigation, DACC is not able to answer specific questions about this case at this time. DACC appreciates the public’s concern and want to assure everyone that the Department is committed to ensuring all kennel operations meet legal requirements and provide humane care,” it claimed.

Linda Blair urged people to participate in animal welfare

The ‘Savage Streets’ star is a longtime animal activist who even founded the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation, an animal and human welfare organization, in 2003.

In 2023, while speaking to PEOPLE, she said, “I think a lot of people in animal welfare need to get more involved so that we can make the changes that are necessary. You can do a bake sale and bring that money, or you could provide food and blankets as you're cleaning out your closet.”
