Lindsay Clancy holdout juror makes emotional appeal in first direct video statement

PLYMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS: Michael Desronvil, the lone holdout juror in former Massachusetts nurse Lindsay Clancy's murder trial, has spoken publicly for the first time without an intermediary. 

In a video statement aired on Fox News’ 'Hannity' on Monday, September 28, he asked people to shift their attention away from him and toward Clancy’s three children.

Desronvil’s remarks come weeks after Clancy’s trial ended in a mistrial on September 4. He has faced accusations from fellow jurors that he obstructed deliberations, claims he has denied.

In his video statement, Desronvil said the attention surrounding him had taken focus away from the children, Cora, Dawson and Callan.

“I know the whole focus has been on me, but we want to reel everything back and put the focus on the three angels,” he said.

“The ones that can't speak for themselves, the ones that can't defend themselves, and the ones that can't fight the battles, and those are Cora, Dawson and Callan,” he added.

Desronvil also briefly spoke about his own experience and thanked those who had supported him throughout the controversy.

“I want to thank God for my Catholic faith,” he said. “I want to thank God for blessing me with the ability to love my daughter. And foremost, I would like to thank everyone, every individual, that has supported me throughout this difficult situation.”

The video marks his most direct public statement since the mistrial. 

Before this, he had addressed the controversy through his attorney, Edward Paltzik, and in remarks to YouTuber Ray Marcel, who streams under the name FugitiveTV.

Michael Desronvil denies allegations from fellow jurors

Following the mistrial, several jurors accused Desronvil of pushing for a guilty verdict despite having reasonable doubts about the prosecution’s case. Desronvil has denied the allegations.

His attorney, Paltzik, has strongly defended his client. Speaking to Fox News’ Kayleigh McEnany over the weekend, he said Desronvil had no doubts about Clancy’s guilt.

“Michael has zero doubt,” Paltzik said.

The attorney also rejected a local report concerning previous domestic violence allegations against his client.

“Every single allegation against Michael is false, fabricated, never happened, categorically false,” Paltzik said. “It just didn’t happen.”

The disagreement has also led to a public clash between Paltzik and Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington.

Reddington has referred to Desronvil as “the obstructionist juror” and asked the court to investigate claims from other jurors that he refused to uphold the law during deliberations.

Clancy’s defense has also filed motions seeking to have the charges dismissed and requesting an investigation into the allegations against Desronvil.

The competing claims have kept attention on the jury deliberations even after the mistrial.

While Desronvil and his attorney have rejected the accusations, Clancy’s defense wants the court to examine what happened in the jury room.

Clancy is due back in court on Tuesday for a status conference. Prosecutors are expected to provide an update on their plans for a possible retrial.

Her defense team is also seeking to have the charges dismissed, leaving the court to consider the next steps in the case.
