Liz Cheney urges voters not to reelect Trump who 'threatens to unravel our Republic' in 4th of July post
WASHINGTON, DC: Liz Cheney, a former Representative and a Wyoming Republican has once again voiced her opposition to Donald Trump, urging Americans not to reelect the former president in a Fourth of July message.
Cheney's post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, July 4, emphasized the importance of defending American democracy.
Liz Cheney says 'we must defeat' Donald Trump
Liz Cheney has been one of Donald Trump's most vocal critics, especially following the Capitol attack carried out by his supporters on January 6, 2021.
She has used significant dates in American history to highlight her concerns about Trump's leadership.
Commemorating the lives lost on D-Day, Cheney's anti-Trump organization The Great Task posted a video on X reminding the public about the qualities required in an individual to be a leader of the free world.
Today, we remember the courage of those who landed on the beaches of Normandy 80 years ago to defend freedom and defeat tyranny.

America deserves a president as good and steadfast as our nation, a president of character, driven by a noble purpose, one who honors the sacrifices… pic.twitter.com/bzDCFGDlUW
On Independence Day, Cheney shared a link to 'The Glorious Cause of America' speech by historian David McCullough.
"Take a few minutes today to read David McCullough's speech: "The Glorious Cause of America." For 248 years, our freedom has survived. Now, its defense is up to us. We must defeat the former president who threatens to unravel our Republic. We must not fail," she wrote on X.

David McCullough's historical perspective
On September 27, 2005, David McCullough made 'The Glorious Cause of America' speech to students attending Brigham Young University.
The speech delves into the history of the Revolutionary War and celebrates leaders like Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and John Adams.
He highlighted Washington's bravery and his ability to learn from his mistakes. McCullough also underscored how personality and character shape history.
Donald Trump and Joe Biden's presidential candidacy
Liz Cheney's message to Americans to not reelect Donald Trump came shortly after the first presidential debate between the former president and President Joe Biden on June 27.
Biden, who appeared to halt and meander on stage gave a poor performance during the face-off, leading to growing concerns among Democrats over his candidacy in the 2024 race and some members of the Democratic Party suggested he step aside from running for president in the upcoming November election.
The president even admitted he "screwed up" on stage, adding, "I made a mistake. But I learned from my father, when you get knocked down, just get back up. And you know, we’re gonna win this election."
Despite concerns over Biden's capability to serve another term, Cheney remains firm in her stance that reelecting Trump would be detrimental to the country, according to Newsweek.
