"I am so grateful for all the good wishes and all the love that comes my way. Not only on my birthday, but always," Minnelli told People.

Her approach to aging is lighthearted as she quipped, “I wish I knew how to act my age. But kids guess what, I have never been this damn old!."

But the key is, "Just keep going baby, that’s the secret!” she said.

The star’s birthday plans on March 12 include a celebration thrown by Michael Feinstein and Terrence Flannery with a surprise in store related to Elsa Peretti.

"A party is being thrown in my honor by dear friends", she said, adding, "There will be food, and fabulous music."

Liza Minnelli has new projects in store

Minnelli was diagnosed with viral encephalitis in 2000. She often uses a wheelchair as seen at the 2022 Oscars, where Lady Gaga comforted her, saying, “I got you.” Minnelli then responded saying, “I know."

Despite the health challenges and personal setbacks, the EGOT winner is set to record music again.

“I am recording music again!" she told the publication, with "exciting brand collaborations," to be announced soon.

“It’s very exciting news but not something we can reveal yet," her publicist Victoria Varela said.

Liza Minnelli's legacy of resilience

Through multiple divorces and legal challenges, Minnelli has maintained her passion for the arts.

She had been married and divorced four times, including unions with entertainer Peter Allen, producer Jack Haley Jr, and sculptor Mark Gero.

Her final marriage was to concert promoter David Gest. Her 2002 marriage to Gest was notably stormy, culminating in a widely publicized and bitter divorce five years later.

Furthermore, Minnelli contended with legal and financial hurdles, encompassing litigations and disagreements related to contracts and monetary matters as Daily Mail noted.

Despite all the hurdles she continued to brave them all and continued what her passion was.

Apart from recording new music, she has also revealed to keep her father's legacy alive.

“I’m developing multiple projects based on the intellectual property of my father, tentatively titled ‘Dreams My Papa Gave Me',” she said.

Vincente Minnelli said her father died in 1986. He directed musicals like 'American in Paris', 'Meet Me in St Louis' and 'Gigi.' She is also receiving another honor from the government of France for which she has received a notice.
