LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It has almost been a week since ‘Bridgerton: Season 3’ dropped, but the fans are still finding little details in the first half of Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington’s (Nicola Coughlan) season.

After the initial sugar rush, we are still coming to terms with the crackling chemistry of the show’s leads. We have settled into re-watching the four episodes again (sigh), as it’s still a long way to June 13 when the second half drops. In the meantime, eagle-eyed fans have noticed a sweet detail about Colin’s “two fingers” in the famous carriage scene that left us in a frenzy.

If you haven’t seen the show yet but you’re here, this could be the sign that you need to reevaluate your decision because ahead are the spoiler alerts. But if that’s not the case, join us as we try to uncover the hottest details from the famed carriage scene.

Since the time Netflix dropped the first four episodes, ‘Polin’ fans have been reveling in the famous carriage scene at the end of the fourth episode where Penelope and Colin indulge in a hot and heavy make-out session," per Cosmopolitan.

During the passionate lovemaking, Colin places his hand under Penelope’s skirt and the rest follows (use your imagination).

As the carriage comes abruptly to a stop in front of the Bridgerton House, with the coach driver announcing the stop, Colin rushes to fix Penelope’s dress - using only his thumb, ring finger, and pinkie, per Metro.

Naturally, it roused a wildly popular fan theory regarding the reason why the third Bridgerton brother did not use his other fingers. Now, it seems, it was an improvisation on Luke Newton’s part that left the internet extremely impressed.

As one fan jokingly asked, “I KNOW ITS SUCH AN INAPPROPRIATE QUESTION TO ASK BUT FOR THE SAKE OF JOURNALISM I NEED SOMEONE TO TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM AND ASK WHO’S IDEA IT WAS TO HAVE COLIN FIX PENELOPE’S DRESS WITH ONLY A FEW FINGERS,” Bridgerton showrunner confirmed it was Newton’s idea.

Andrew Ahn, ‘Bridgerton’ director replied on X (formerly Twitter), “I wish I could take credit for this incredible moment of…physical authenticity, but I did not give this piece of direction. It was all Luke Newton!”

Previously, talking about the scene to Deadline, Newton said, “We did multiple versions, maybe five or six different versions of how we play the scene out and then just left it up to the edit. That was a really freeing process of just let’s cover all bases here and whatever works within the story…it just felt really appropriate"

He added, “I feel like it’s written so perfectly that we finish the end of Part 1 at that point, because it feels like a moment of relief and contentment, but actually there’s the underlying story of Whistledown.”

Fans go gaga over Luke Newton's improvisation

The Internet has gone wild since Andrew Ahn clarified that improvisation was all Luke Newton's doing. Juxtaposing the fictional character of Colin with the actor, fans praised Newton for adding this little yet impactful detail.

One of the fans stated, "I cannot believe two fingers singlehandedly changed the online narrative of Colin Bridgerton thank you Luke Newton you are a genius."

Someone else suggested, "Colin fixing pen's sleeve with only some of his fingers because,,,,,,, well,,,,,."

"Colin fixed Pen's dress with the ring finger, the pinky and the thumb. Making sure not to touch the dress, OR HER HAIR with those two fingers. Luke Newton is a genius. #BRIDGERTON I'm just—DETAILS PEOPLE. DETAILS," blurted another flabbergasted fan.

Someone else added, "The 3 fingers movement when Colin helped Penelope before leaving the carriage...was a Luke's idea....uhm....your two fingers are supposed to be clean....so why didn't you use all your fingers Luke? ..this was an instictive act.....nothing happened. Oh yes, sure, right, whatever."

"The way he backed off immediately and without any anger when Penelope called them friends, the way he waited for her consent to go any further, the way he fixed her dress and hair (without using THOSE fingers)... Colin Bridgerton in a world full of boys you're a GENTLEMAN," fawned another 'Bridgerton' fan.

Someone else apologized for not understanding his game (wink), "The way that I saw him reach to fix her dress and thought "maybe not with *those* fingers" and then he DIDN'T?! Colin Bridgerton I must apologize, I was unfamiliar with your game."

Another fan noted, "Someone on tumblr just pointed out that Colin didn't use all his fingers to fix Penelope dress. I love a respectful king #bridgerton."
