ALLEN, TEXAS: A woman from Texas, apprehended during a SWAT raid at her residence, allegedly attempted to place one of her children in an oven as per NBC.
Lul Top, aged 36, was taken into custody on Monday, February 5 following the SWAT standoff at her residence in the 1500 block of Tanglewood Drive.
Police responded to reports of child abuse involving her six children. According to jail records, she is charged with six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Additional information regarding the abuse of the children was reported by Fox News.
Lul Top barricaded herself in attic
Authorities stated that upon their arrival at the residence to execute a search warrant and serve arrest warrants, Lul Top retreated and barricaded herself in the attic.
After approximately two hours of negotiation and attempted communication, law enforcement deployed chemical agents, prompting Top to surrender around 10:50 am.
Residents in the vicinity mentioned that police were frequent visitors to the house, often knocking at the door. However, tensions escalated on Monday with the arrival of the SWAT team.
According to the affidavit, last month Top allegedly used a piece of wood from the door frame to injure her husband.
This incident prompted forensic interviews with the children, during which they reportedly informed police that Top consumes excessive alcohol and involves all the children in searching for it.
What did the children report?
The children of the woman, aged 3, 6, 9, and 10, reportedly disclosed to Child Protection Services that Top routinely subjected them to "torture" in her pursuit of alcohol.
Authorities revealed that the children bore scars resembling knife wounds, with two alleging that their mother had used a knife to inflict harm.
In a harrowing account, the 10-year-old child recounted how Top attempted to place their 3-year-old sibling in a scorching oven, prompting a physical altercation to protect the younger child and hide them upstairs.
Supporting this testimony, a 4-year-old child claimed to have witnessed the incident, as detailed in the affidavit.
Another child recounted a terrifying experience of their mother holding a knife to their tongue and attempting to force them to consume alcohol, an act they resisted by spitting it out.
The children further disclosed to investigators that Top threatened them with a cleaver, leading them to hide knives to protect themselves.
Neighbors, including William Whitney, attested to the unsettling atmosphere surrounding Top's residence, noting frequent police presence and unsupervised children playing in the yard.
The family had reportedly moved into the rental home approximately a year ago. Upon Top's arrest, Allen police seized knives from the residence as evidence.
Top faces six felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is currently detained in Collin County Jail on a $600,000 bond.
