LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jon Hamm continues to be haunted by a past scandal. The ‘Mad Men’ star was among a number of Sigma Nu fraternity members reportedly involved in a violent hazing decades ago during his time at the University of Texas at Austin.
The allegations first came to light in 2015 just as 'Mad Men' was airing its final season.
The incident resurfaced recently after Daily Mail columnist Maureen Callahan spoke about it on her podcast, 'The Nerve'.
This comes at a time when the Primetime Emmy Award winner is relishing his successful 'Saturday Night Live' appearance and a new hit series on Apple TV+, ‘Your Friends and Neighbors’, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Jon Hamm tried to downplay hazing allegations
Jon Hamm, along with others, severely beat freshman Mark Sanders in 1990. They also dragged him with a hammer before putting his pants on fire.

The reported victim not only suffered a fractured spine but also almost lost a kidney. Criminal records show Hamm was charged with hazing and received probation. A separate charge of assault was dismissed.
In 2018, Hamm appeared to downplay the assault as he told Esquire, “I wouldn’t say it’s accurate. Everything about that is sensationalized.”
“I was accused of these things I don’t... It’s so hard to get into it. I don’t want to give it any more breath. It was a bummer of a thing that happened. I was essentially acquitted. I wasn’t convicted of anything,” he added.
Maureen Callahan sheds light on Jon Hamm's dark past
But Maureen Callahan is not ready to let it go so easily.
During the first episode of her new show podcast ‘The Nerve’, she called out the 54-year-old actor.

Detailing the horrendous assault, she said, “He marches these two little pledges upstairs, where they meet two other frat boys with a paddle. This isn't like a ping pong paddle. This is what the victim describes as a two-handed wooden paddle that was at least a foot long.”
“So that's solid wood. They begin to beat Mark Sanders. Then, at a given point, Jon Hamm, according to this transcript, takes the paddle and the victim describes Jon Hamm rearing back, and 'He hits me right over my right kidney. I mean, square over it. Good, solid hit. And that stood me up,’” Callahan claimed.
The ‘Baby Driver’ star also allegedly lit the belt loop of Sanders.
The columnist read from the chargesheet of the investigation, “‘I tried to put out the fire immediately.’ Question: ‘With your hand?’ Mark: ‘Yeah, with my hand, but he knocked my hand away.’”
“‘And I was kind of panicking, because I was wearing a cotton t-shirt. I actually tried to put it out with my hands, and Jon Hamm wouldn't let me. He made me blow it out with my mouth',” she continued reading.
Maureen Callahan blasts Jon Hamm’s pals
Maureen Callahan did not stop there as she slammed Jon Hamm's famous friends as well.
She continued, “I always wondered about people like her like Kirsten Wiig you know who sort of like helped John Hamm enter that 'SNL' little clique, that comedy world. My theory about them is that they were never the homecoming queens.”
“They were the comedy nerd girls who kind of didn't fit in. And a guy like Jon Ham comes along and pays them some attention and their knees buckle. They can't believe a guy this hot would look twice at them And so they're doing dirty work for him, in my opinion,” she asserted.
Maureen Callahan slams Jon Hamm’s marriage to Anna Osceola
Maureen Callahan further trashed Jon Hamm for ditching his long-time girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt for his now-wife Anna Osceola, who is much younger than him.

“He gets with a minor actress on ‘Mad Men’, practically an extra. So someone whose talent level is never going to eclipse his,” she said.
“She's half his age. He marries her, and he starts giving interviews about how he thinks he wants children now, which I'm sure Jennifer Westfeldt is so happy she sacrificed so much of her own dreams and life ambitions for that piece of s**t,” Callahan added.

Internet calls Jon Hamm ‘sadistic psychopath’
Many people who watched Maureen Callahan's podcast 'The Nerve', agreed with her remarks about Jon Hamm.
An Instagram user posted, “So he was a physically abusive bully. I have 💯 % ZERO tolerance for bullying.”
"Ewwwww... cancel him please!!!!" said one.
“The older I get the more I think most actors, even the ‘good ones’ are just playing themselves. When you really dissect their performances, most tend to be the same over and over or gravitate between a couple of different types of people,” another user stated.
A comment read, “I was hoping u were going to bring this up. I heard this a few years ago and now I can’t unhear it. He seems to be who he plays.”
An individual wrote on X, “So it turns out Mad Men actor Jon Hamm is a sadistic psychopath who nearly beat a fraternity pledge to death in college. Hollywood seeks out the most lowlife people it can to poison our culture.”

“I enjoyed your first show sis! This story was really interesting to me. I’ve never actually been a fan of Hamm, not even in the Mad Men days. He always seemed so douche but I could never put my finger on why, beyond type casting. Gut was right,” a user tweeted.

A YouTube comment read, "How is Hamm NOT in jail? I was not in the Greek system, but this is beyond hazing — it is criminal. This has gone unpunished too long. Truly shocking and beyond understanding. Plenty of blame to go around, but that man is sick!"
Another comment read, "Hello, Maureen!! 🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉 OMG, the frat hazing that Hamm put Mark through is unbelievably sickening. Hamm should still be rotting in prison."
