Madonna admits of being 'jealous' of Kylie Minogue as her ex-husband had a 'crush' on her
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Madonna recently made a surprising statement about her longtime friend, Kylie Minogue, as she sat down for an interview with Graham Norton at Koko in London to discuss her upcoming album — ‘Confessions II’.
Minogue was also present during some part of the interview.
Madonna says she was 'in love with' Kylie Minogue
The ‘Queen of Pop’ claimed that she once felt jealous of the 58-year-old actress as she believed her then partner had a crush on her.
During the discussion, Norton asked Madonna about her famous T-shirt with Minogue's name written on it in rhinestones. The 67-year-old had worn it in 2000 at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Stockholm, Sweden.
The icon replied, “I was in my Western mode, rhinestoning everything, and I was trying to think of singers that I'm slightly in love with. And so naturally I thought of Kylie and had a T-shirt made of her.”
Minogue then revealed how she felt after seeing the t-shirt. “[There was] no warning. I don't know what I did, probably just stopped shy of fainting.”
Madonna believed she would never be as beautiful as Kylie'
“It was amazing,” she added. But Madonna went on to mention that she was “actually a little bit jealous of” the ‘Can't Get You Out of My Head’ singer.
When Minogue asked her the reason behind it, she said, “Because she was so cute. I think my ex-husband at the time had a crush on her. I think my ex-husband at the time had a crush on her. I was like, 'I'll never be as beautiful as Kylie!’”
Though she did not name the person, she was married to director Guy Ritchie at the time.
Madonna calls Graham Norton 'very nosy'
Elsewhere during the interview, Norton tried to find out if Minogue will be on Madonna's next album, releasing on July 3. “There have been rumors that Kylie is on 'Confessions II'. Is this you confirming that rumor?” the comedian asked the record producer.
But Madonna did not give a straight answer and instead told him, “Why do you have to know everything? You're very nosy.”
Later in the discussion, Minogue, 58, showcased her vinyl copy of Madonna's self-titled 1983 debut album. She shared, “How it got into the Minogue household, I don't know. Did we have enough pocket money to get it? Did my parents get it? But my sister and I hammered that album. Love was born, and it was everlasting.”
