TORONTO, CANADA: Madonna flexed her control over Lady Gaga once more while also expressing her regret to the people of Toronto for accidentally referring to them as "Boston" during her performance at Scotiabank Arena on Friday, January 12.

The Oscar-winning songwriter has been devoting time in the recording studio ahead of Todd Phillips' October 4th release of 'Joker: Folie à Deux,' a $150 million supervillain sequel where she plays Harley Quinn opposite Joaquin Phoenix.

Meanwhile, Madonna is next expected to visit Detroit's Little Caesars Arena on Monday, January 22, as part of her 79-date, $77.4 million Celebration Tour, as per Daily Mail.

Madonna shades Lady Gaga again

Poking fun at Gaga, the 65-year-old Queen of Pop questioned the audience in a social media video: "Are you guys mad at me because I said hello, Boston?"

"I'm sorry. What kind of f****d up s**t is that? That would be like if you guys were saying, 'Hey, Lady Gaga's playing tonight!' I wouldn't like that," Madonna snarked.

The Michigan native went on, saying, "I mean, you know, nothing against Lady Gaga. Love her. I do! I love anyone shorter than me."

In 2012, Madonna infamously referred to Lady Gaga (born Stefani Germanotta) as "reductive" on 20/20 for writing the 2011 song 'Born This Way,' which bore a striking resemblance to Madonna's famous 1989 hit song 'Express Yourself.'

The seven-time Grammy winner was believed to have put an end to her long-running conflict with her 37-year-old pop rival five years ago during her 12th annual post-Oscars party in Coldwater Canyon.

Lady Gaga and Madonna's long-running feud

The long-running rivalry between Madonna and Lady Gaga began in 2011 when Gaga was accused of ripping lyrics from Madonna's 1989 hit 'Express Yourself' for her song 'Born This Way.'

A year later, 'The Material Girl' singer responded to the accusations, telling ABC News that Gaga's hit song "feels reductive" before she consumes a drink of tea.

Gaga addressed Madonna's criticism in her 2017 Netflix documentary 'Gaga: Five Foot Two,' where Madonna was attacked by Gaga for not addressing her problems head-on.

Gaga stated in the documentary: "The only thing that really bothers me about her is that I'm Italian and from New York, so if I have a problem with somebody I'm going to (expletive) tell you to your face."

She added at the time: "No matter how much respect I have for her as a performer, I could never wrap my head around the fact that she wouldn’t look me in the eye and tell me that I was reductive or whatever. Telling me you think I’m a piece of (expletive) through the media?"

However, the Queen of Pop and the Academy Award winner gave one other a hug during Madonna's post-Oscars celebration, ending their years-long rivalry.

An array of Madonna followers took to X (formerly Twitter) to defend the singer's act, claiming it to be a joke, with one X user saying, "Ngl it's pretty sweet how the first name that came to her mind was Gaga, and it's obvious they're good friends."

A second one said, "I don’t see how this is shade. Her and Gaga have been friends for quite a while now!"

A third one explained, "Everyone here who are hating Madonna now for that just doesn't understand her sense of humor. Don't take everything personally I mean hellooo we love them BOTH."

"Yall always take madonna’s words as a bad thing she’s literally bluffing here and she and gaga do love each other," another one echoed a similar sentiment.

One more noted, "It’s gonna be really funny seeing how intelectually reduced some of you are, and have a meltdown over a joke."

"Some ppl are saying she’s “shading” Gaga but no she’s not. she’s just joking, and even Gaga herself would definitely laugh at this," said another one.
