WASHINGTON, DC: Conservative outrage has been mounting since Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny was announced as the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show performer.

In response, conservative influencer Jack Posobiec is calling for a counter halftime show featuring Christian rock band Creed, evoking their iconic 2001 performance.

The main members of the rock band Creed include Scott Stapp as lead vocalist, Mark Tremonti on lead guitar, Scott Phillips on drums, and Brian Marshall on bass. But is this idea winning support? And what’s fueling conservatives’ harsh criticism of Bad Bunny? Read on to find out.

Jack Posobiec, 40, has been leading a somewhat tongue-in-cheek campaign online to have the band Creed perform a “counter” halftime show, organized by the late Charlie Kirk’s group, Turning Point USA.

Since Sunday, September 28, Posobiec has tweeted, “Sure would be a shame if @TPUSA hosted a counter-Superbowl halftime show with Creed.” He added, “By every measure Creed has earned the Superbowl halftime gig. It is time for them to take us Higher. To a place with golden streets.”

Notably, Posobiec is a well-known Creed fan, having expressed his admiration in a tweet last year where he shared a Creed performance and commented, "This crowd at Creed is insane."

On Wednesday, Posobiec appeared on 'The Charlie Kirk Show' alongside conservative podcaster Tim Pool, who criticized Bad Bunny’s selection. Posobiec insisted, “We need Creed. We need [Creed frontman] Scott Stapp flying down from the rafters.”

He was referencing Creed’s iconic and much-memed 2001 Thanksgiving halftime performance in Dallas, Texas, which featured aerialists flying around the stadium while the band performed their hit song “Higher.”

For context, Creed hasn’t had a hit song since 2002, when 'One Last Breath' saw moderate chart success, and they haven’t released an album since 2009. While the NFL has occasionally chosen legacy acts for the Halftime Show, the last time they picked a band not actively producing new music was 'The Who' in 2010.

Calls for Bad Bunny’s replacement spark debate online

Within a few days, Jack Posobiec posted on X, and several internet users quickly shared their comments, reaching over 1.2 million people.

A commenter shared, "Sure, why not, maybe bring back flip phones and pagers while you’re at it."

One individual shared, "Love this idea but I’d definitely prefer Forrest Frank! But would watch literally anyone other than what the NFL is putting out."

A commenter praised, "That would be awesome!!"

A user urged, "This is a genius idea. Promote ahead of peers."

One more person hailed, "Such a fabulous idea."

An X user shared, "That would epic and I would tune in!"

Aother person shared, "Make it happen!!!! Have a Patriot Bowl with some young conservative men. Creed halftime! Prolife cheerleaders. A proper prayer at the beginning and end. A couple of bands to play for each team. Make Superbowls Super Again! 🏈 🇺🇸"

An Instagram user shared, "Creed = 13 million listeners on Spotify Bad Bunny = 77 million listeners tell me who wins. I like Creed, I don’t like Bad Bunny but Bad Bunny is better for business." A person mocked, "Creed? Are they still around?😂😂😂😂" A commenter wrote, "Creed hasn’t made a hit song since I was in High school. No ones gonna know who they are."

Bad Bunny faces backlash since Super Bowl LX halftime show announcement

Since the NFL announced Bad Bunny as the Halftime Show performer, conservatives have erupted with backlash online. Conservative commentator Benny Johnson labeled Bad Bunny a “massive Trump hater” and an “anti-ICE activist,” criticizing him for having “no songs in English.”

Megyn Kelly described the choice as a “middle finger to MAGA.”

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, publicly endorsed Kamala Harris and primarily raps in Spanish. Earlier this year, he made headlines by refusing to tour in the continental United States, citing concerns that ICE might show up at his concerts and put some fans at risk.

Adding fuel to the fire, Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski threatened an ICE raid at the Super Bowl during a recent conversation with Johnson.
