Adam Driver's performance in 'Ferrari' disappoints fans despite Venice Film Festival ovation
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Adam Driver’s fans didn’t enjoy his performance in ‘Ferrari’ and were honest about it!
Despite receiving a 7-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival in September, that held little significance for moviegoers.
Cold opening for Adam's 'Ferrari'
The biopic on Enzo Ferrari was released on Boxing Day, December 26, by the great Italian car manufacturer.
In September, during the flick’s premiere, Adam got emotional after all the applause and Michael Mann helped him get back on his feet, as per DailyMail.
The actor began, “I'm very happy to be here to support this movie, and the truncated schedule that we had to shoot it and the efforts of all the incredible actors working on it and the crew.”
Adam added, “But also, I'm very proud to be here as a visual representation of a movie that's not part of the AMPTP and to promote the SAG leadership directive, which is an effective tactic and the interim agreement.”
Driver on SAG-AFTRA strike
The 40-year-old actor criticized streaming services, stating, “The other objective is obviously to question why a smaller distribution company like Neon and STX International can fulfill the ideal demands outlined by SAG — this is pre-negotiations — on SAG's wishlist, but larger companies like Netflix and Amazon cannot?”
“And every time people from SAG go and support a movie that has met the terms of the interim agreement, it just makes it more obvious that these people are willing to support the people that they collaborate with, and the others are not,” reflected Academy-nominated star.
Fans expressed strong reactions, with one stating, 'I caught myself snoring.' Another comment read, “Patrick Dempsey’s role was minor and really didn’t add anything to the plot. I even caught myself snoring once.”
A user said, “I was expecting something similar to Ford vs Ferrari. Ferrari’s personal life was featured more than the actual race cars or their development. Mostly shots of driving techniques, countryside, and narrow winding roads.”
“Makes no sense how movies about Napoleon, Leonard Bernstein, and Enzo Ferrari came out this year and instead of focusing on all the cool stuff, they made it about the marriage,” commented one user.
