NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The Internet is in shock over the tragic news of the death of Marco Troper, the 19-year-old son of former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki.

Troper, a freshman math major at the University of California, Berkeley, was found unresponsive in his dorm room at the Clark Kerr campus on Tuesday.

Reports suggest a possible drug overdose as the cause of death.

Despite the best efforts of emergency responders, resuscitation attempts were reportedly unsuccessful.

"Berkeley Fire Department notified UCPD that they were attempting life-saving measures on the victim," the University of California Police Department stated.

"UCPD responded, and Berkeley Fire Department pronounced the person deceased," they added.

The police did not find any indications of foul play at the scene. Esther Wojcicki, Troper's grandmother, suspects that a drug overdose could be the cause of the teenager's death.

"He ingested a drug, and we don’t know what was in it," Esther Wojcicki said to SFGATE. "One thing we do know, it was a drug."

The outlet reports that a toxicology test to determine the exact cause of Troper's death is underway and the results are expected to be available in up to 30 days.

Susan Wojcicki, who married David Troper in 1998 and has five children with him, had a notable career at YouTube.

She was appointed as the CEO of the video platform in 2014 and was recognized as one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people in 2015.

After dedicating 25 years to the company, she resigned from her position in February 2023 to focus on her family, health, and personal projects, per New York Post.
