WASHINGTON, DC: Former presidential candidate Marianne Williamson repeated her call for President Joe Biden to step down from the 2024 race, urging  Democrats to "recalibarte quickly" before the November election.

In an interview with Fox News' Neil Cavuto on Saturday, July 6, Williamson listed her reasons why Biden should exit despite sweeping the state primaries and securing more than enough delegates.

"He did get those delegates but the people who voted for him voted for him before last Thursday's debate," the former White House hopeful said, as per The Hill.

"This is an emergency for the Democratic Party and we need to handle this and we need to handle it quickly."

Biden, who displayed a poor performance in his debate against Donald Trump last week, continues to meet with demands for him to suspend the race from elected Democratic officials and donors.

However, in his latest one-on-one with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos, the octogenarian declared only "Lord Almighty" could persuade him to step down from the reelection bid.

Marianne Williamson calls on Democrats to 'recalibrate quickly'

Williamson, who earlier demanded an open convention to replace the 81-year-old, doubled down on it in a series of posts on social media on July 6.

"The American people want to feel their government knows how to handle an emergency. Right now the Democratic Party needs to prove that we do," read one of her posts on X (formerly Twitter).

Further, she warned that someone should immediately talk with Biden or his family; otherwise, the party would cede to Trump.

"We need to recalibrate quickly. We need a mini primary - not a decision made by party elites but by the delegates themselves," Williamson continued and reiterated her call for an open convention.

In addition, she claimed there was nothing to be feared in making a fresh start, noting four months were left for Election Day.

"The only thing to fear is delaying another day and then another day and then another day…" the ex-primary opponent to Biden remarked.

Williamson, who launched her presidential campaign in March 2023, suspended the race nearly a year later in February. However, she "unsuspended" her campaign weeks later but turned out unsuccessful after losing all state primaries that ended last month.

Following Biden's flat debate show, she attempted to reenter the campaign ring once again, stating she would replace the octogenarian.

Speaking to Cavuto, Williamson urged Biden to exit with "respect and compassion," and the Democratic Party should weigh into this to defend itself against the "hotbed of grievances" put forth by Trump.

Internet reacts as Marianne Williamson urges Joe Biden to step down

Williamson's remarks attempting to pressure Biden to exit the race sparked mockery among netizens who pointed out she was unqualified to make the call.

"I hate to break it to her, she still has no chance," a user said.

"The lady that lost the primary thinks the guy that won the primary should drop out I’m shocked," another remarked.

"She needs to go back to reading her tea leaves cause her political 'career' is over," added a third user.

"Who is she that Biden should listen to her?" Read a fourth response.

"Unpopular woman who wants his job begs guy to quit," quipped another person.

"Always trying to make herself relevant…she’s not," an individual wrote.

"No offense but I’m not advice from someone who couldn’t get beat me in the primaries. Her advice is laughable. It’s like a Lawyer asking for advice on the bar exam from someone who couldn’t pass the LSAT," someone else chimed in.
