WASHINGTON, DC: Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson 'unsuspended' her 2024 presidential campaign just three weeks after exiting the race, reported New York Post.

The best-selling author announced her decision through a video message posted on her social media platforms on Wednesday, February 28, after coming third in the Michigan Democratic primary.

"As of today, I am unsuspending my campaign for the presidency of the United States. I had suspended it because I was losing the horse race, but something so much more important than the horse race is at stake here," Williamson said on X, adding that "we have a fascist standing at the door," referring to ex-president Donald Trump.

She suspended her campaign after poor performances in New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada primaries. In Michigan, she secured 3% of votes ahead of in-party opponent Rep. Dean Phillips, who scored a mere 2.7 %.

Marianne Williamson lashes out at Joe Biden

The 71-year-old self-help guru blasted President Joe Biden's re-election bid claiming it was 'delusional' he could think about defeating Trump in November, adding the entire presidential race is a "car crash in slow motion."

Arguing only 20% of Americans enjoyed the benefits of the well-performing US economy, Williamson questioned, "What is President Biden offering? He says, 'Let's finish the job…' What does he say beyond, 'You know, the economy is really doing well'?"

"We need to take this country in a direction of hope and possibility and regeneration. That is the vision that will defeat Donald Trump, not 'Let us finish the job,'" she added.

The White House hopeful also emphasized the necessity of peace and military academies in the US, a Middle East ceasefire, and compensations to descendants of African American slaves to "respond to Donald Trump's dark vision of possibility."

Williamson, who first ran for President in 2020, announced her second presidential bid in March 2023, long before Biden declared his re-election race. Currently residing in Beverly Hills, California, she has authored over a dozen books, as per Associated Press.

She received just above 22,000 votes in Michigan, which fell behind the frontrunner and the 'uncommitted' campaign in protest of Biden's policies toward the Israel-Hamas war.

Williamson's campaign could hardly impact the showdown in November, which is close to becoming a potential rematch between Biden and his predecessor, Trump.

Internet mocks Marianne Williamson

Williamson became prey to severe online mockery following her decision to "unsuspend" the presidential campaign. Netizens deemed the long-shot presidential contender's move "embarrassing."

One user wrote, "You are making a laughingstock of yourself. This is so embarrassing!"

"uncommitted got more votes than you but somehow that gives you hope?" another person remarked, referring to Michigan Democratic primary results.

A third user added, "all the love to her but this is a wild move." A fourth remark read, "Marianne Williamson has become an embarrassment."

"Oh good grief lady. Stop," demanded an exhausted user.

Another person commented below Williamson's X post, "This Tweet, like your candidacy, is a waste of time."
