WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump announced the capture of Nicolas Maduro and his wife after the military’s successful strike in Venezuela on Saturday, January 3. The strike left the political spectrum divided, with the Republicans praising the decision and the Democrats slamming the Trump administration for its behavior.

However, Republican representative Marjorie Taylor Greene criticized Donald Trump’s actions. She claimed that the Mexican cartels were responsible for most substance-related deaths in America, and not Venezuela.

She further argued that if the objective really was to rid America of illegal substances, why hadn’t the Trump administration taken action against Mexican cartels?

Marjorie Taylor Greene criticizes foreign spending amid US crisis

In an X post, Marjorie Taylor Greene, popularly known as MTG, condemned the Trump administration’s strike in Venezuela.

She questioned why it was ok for America to “militarily invade, bomb, and arrest a foreign leader,” when Trump had previously criticized Russia and China for their stance against Ukraine and Taiwan, calling them “evil.”

She added that American tax dollars were being used for foreign causes while Americans faced an affordability crisis.

She stated that they were enraged after learning about the increasing cost of living, housing, healthcare, and the ongoing scams and fraud.

Sharing the perspective of different demographics, Greene stated that “boomers and half of Gen X will cheer on neocon wars." The other half of Gen X and a majority of Americans were allegedly able to see through it and express disapproval.

Greene claimed that citizens felt disgust with Trump’s military aggression and his support of foreign wars since the money to fund such missions came from the taxpayers’ pockets.

“This is what MAGA thought they voted to end. Boy, were we wrong,” she added.

Trump says second wave of attack unnecessary

Officials of the Trump administration, along with the president himself, spoke to the press on Saturday, detailing the strike and capture of Nicolas Maduro at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.

The president praised the strike and the capture of Nicolas Maduro and his wife. As he detailed the operation, he revealed that no American lives had been lost and that no military equipment had been lost.

Donald Trump also stated that the US was prepared for another attack on Venezuela, which was probably unnecessary anymore.

“The first attack was so successful, we probably don’t have to do a second, but we’re prepared to do a second wave, a much bigger wave, actually,” he said.
