WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene on Monday, June 3, suggested forcing a vote on President Joe Biden's impeachment this week due to the situation at the southern border. The president is getting ready to implement an executive order that would severely restrict crossings between the United States and Mexico, stated The Hill.

She informed reporters on Monday night that she intended to attempt to force a vote on her articles of impeachment that evening, but she ultimately chose to postpone it to speak with Speaker Mike Johnson. However, she cautioned that later this week, she may set off the resolve.

Greene told reporters, "Right here, privileged resolution of impeachment. I can force a vote this week. But you know what, I was gonna do it tonight but I decided I’m gonna go talk to our Republican elected Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, that I actually voted for that claims he supports Trump, and ask him if he’s gonna do something about it."

Moreover, when asked what would happen if Johnson refused to allow a vote on the articles of impeachment, Greene vowed to call for one.

She said, "I’ll just drop them on the floor and then we can vote and see where everybody stands. I’m mad. I didn’t come up here to hang out with everybody and go ‘oh, hey, guys.’ I mean, my people at home are mad. Everybody across this country are furious. We don’t want a banana republic — we want an actual legitimate government. We want a real justice system. We don’t have one right now."

As early as Tuesday, June 4, Greene might introduce her impeachment resolution. Following that, the leadership would have two legislative days to schedule a vote on the proposal.

Notably, Rep Lauren Boebert (R-Colo) forced a vote on her resolution impeaching Biden over the border in June, and it is expected that the chamber will vote on a move to table the measure or submit it to the committee.

The day before Biden was scheduled to sign an executive order to stop processing asylum petitions at the border if the average daily encounter count at ports of entry hit 2,500, Greene made the threat.

It's a proposal that resembles a strategy that was initially proposed as legislation by a group of senators from both parties, and it was discussed with the White House. The bill was swiftly sunk by conservatives.

It also comes after some Republicans said that Biden ought to utilize his executive authority to enforce stricter border restrictions; however, it's not clear if this is legal, and immigrant rights organizations have threatened to file a lawsuit.
