ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene has urged the federal government for urgent assistance to aid Georgia in the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, as reported by The Raw Story.

This plea comes after Greene faced significant backlash for attending a high-profile football game with Donald Trump while her state was still reeling from the storm’s aftermath.

During an interview on Monday, September 30, with Real America's Voice, Marjorie Taylor Greene and her boyfriend, Brian Glenn, discussed Hurricane Helene's impact and the efforts to secure relief funding for the affected areas.

In the interview, Greene detailed the storm's path and the damage left in its wake.

"The storm was supposed to come directly across my district, but when it came through Georgia, it went to the east, and we mainly just got a lot of rain," Greene explained.

Despite her district being spared from the worst, other parts of Georgia, as well as neighboring states, were not so fortunate.

"When we go back to Washington, we will be working hard to make sure that states like Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and North Carolina get the funding that they need," Greene stated, emphasizing the need for a swift federal response.

She elaborated on the efforts already underway: "We’ve already signed a letter. We sent that letter to Joe Biden requesting relief that Brian Kemp, our governor, has already requested. So our entire delegation in Georgia has signed onto that letter."

Greene's remarks highlight the significant toll Hurricane Helene has taken on the southeastern United States.

The hurricane, which made landfall in Florida before moving across multiple states, brought torrential rain, damaging winds, and widespread destruction.

According to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, the storm left more than half a million Georgians without power and claimed the lives of at least 25 residents.

Kemp described the devastation, stating that in some areas, the destruction "looks like a bomb went off".

"We need them to step in and send the funds and the relief that these people deserve," Greene said, stressing the importance of immediate federal intervention.

Marjorie Taylor Greene attends football game with Donald Trump amid Hurricane Helene

Just days before making her plea for federal assistance, Marjorie Taylor Greene was at the center of a heated controversy after attending a college football game with Donald Trump while Hurricane Helene was still ravaging parts of her home state.

On Saturday, September 28, Greene and Trump were photographed together at the Georgia vs Alabama college football game in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

In the image, both were smiling and giving a thumbs-up gesture, seemingly unbothered by the ongoing crisis.

Greene shared the photo on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption: "A MAN OF THE PEOPLE!!... Great to see President Trump tonight in Tuscaloosa! 100K strong to Make America Great Again!!!"

The post quickly sparked outrage, with many criticizing Greene for attending the game while many in Georgia were still without power, homes were destroyed, and the death toll from Hurricane Helene was rising.
