Trump shifts tone on Georgia's GOP Gov Brian Kemp after calling him 'disloyal guy' weeks ago
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Former president Donald Trump flip-flopped on his stance on Georgia's Republican Gov Brian Kemp after hammering him at a rally earlier this month.
The GOP presidential nominee warmed up to Kemp in a social media post, thanking him "for all of your help and support in Georgia, where a win is so important to the success of our Party and, most importantly, our Country."
"I look forward to working with you, your team, and all of my friends in Georgia to help MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" Trump added in the August 22 post.
The ex-president's latest remarks marked a significant backtracking from his attack against the Republican governor during a rally near the Georgia Capitol on August 3, as per The Hill.
"He's a bad guy. He's a disloyal guy. And he's a very average governor. Little Brian, little Brian Kemp. Bad guy," Trump said at the time over Kemp's refusal to give in to his false election fraud claims. He also held the governor responsible for not preventing a prosecution against him by a local district attorney in his alleged effort to overturn the 2020 election results.
Brian Kemp declares his support for Donald Trump prompting ex-POTUS to change tune
Donald Trump mended his relationship with Brian Kemp after the governor announced in an interview with Fox News's Sean Hannity on Thursday, August 22, that he continued to support the real estate mogul's presidential bid.
"We need to send Donald Trump back to the White House," Kemp declared.
This may be the first time this election Kemp has said “we need to send Trump back to the White House.” Seems like an endorsement to me. Considering how popular Kemp is in GA, Trump needed this. pic.twitter.com/qNNYi1buvH

Kemp could make use of his own political organization to woo GOP voters for Trump's victory in the Peach State. In 2020, he narrowly lost the state to President Joe Biden. His attempts to reverse his defeat led to a federal indictment in the state led by Fulton County DA Fani Willis.
The MAGA spearhead made his changed tone evident to Fox News after Vice President Kamala Harris's nomination acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention. When asked whether he would make a specific effort to reconcile with Kemp, the former president responded by praising the Georgia governor.
"Well I just saw Brian on a very good man — did you ever hear of a man named Sean Hannity? And he was interviewed by Sean Hannity and he was very nice and he said he wants Trump to win and he's going to work with me 100% and I think we're going to have a very good relationship with Brian Kemp," Trump remarked.
Brian Kemp and Donald Trump's long history of differences
Earlier this month, Brian Kemp retorted at Donald Trump for criticizing his wife, Marty Kemp, after she said in an interview that the ex-president did not earn her vote. The Georgia Republican demanded Trump on X to "leave my family out of it" and asked him to stop "engaging in petty personal insults, attacking fellow Republicans, or dwelling on the past."
Nevertheless, their differences date back to 2019 when Kemp chose Kelly Loeffler to the Senate over then-Rep Doug Collins, who Trump preferred.
The MAGA spearhead often claimed that Kemp's 2018 victory resulted from his endorsement. Their rivalry turned intense after Kemp refused his push to intervene in the 2020 election results after Biden's narrow victory in the state. The former president had urged the governor to convene a special session of the state legislators to replace the Democrat's electors with electors pledged to him.
In retaliation, Trump backed Sen David Perdue against Kemp in the 2022 gubernatorial election, but the latter won with a 75% primary vote.

"Omg, it’s like he can forgive and forget!?" a user asked.
"Donald's nervous. He is watching the DNC & is getting scared," another remarked.

"Full panic mode," an individual chimed in.
"Is it weird that Trump is kissing Governor Kemp's ring?" another user joked.
"OK. Who took his phone priveleges away and started sending out messages?" read a remark.
