WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga) criticized President Donald Trump’s staff on Wednesday, June 10, saying they failed to properly prepare him for a recent interview in which he denied promising there would be “no new wars” during his presidency.

Greene’s comments came after Trump’s contentious exchange with NBC’s Kristen Welker on Meet the Press, which ended abruptly after a series of disputes over election claims and foreign policy. The Georgia Republican said the controversy could have been avoided if Trump’s advisers had reminded him of his past campaign statements.

Greene says Trump's team failed to prepare him for questions

Speaking to CNN, Greene addressed Trump’s remarks during the interview, where he said he “didn’t guarantee” there would be no wars under his administration. Collins asked Greene how she interpreted the president’s comments.

“Well, I hear it the way that he said it so many times in the past,” Greene replied. “You know, I don’t think the president’s comms team is doing him any favors.”

Greene noted that following the interview, numerous video clips circulated online showing Trump repeatedly promising to avoid new foreign conflicts during his presidential campaign.

“People rolled out video after video of him saying on the campaign trail, just like I heard him say personally so many times as I campaigned with him, where he said, ‘No more foreign wars, I will end war. I will bring world peace,’” Greene said.

She argued that Trump’s staff should have anticipated questions about those statements and ensured he was familiar with his previous remarks.

“There was video montage after video montage, and shame on his team for not showing him those videos of what he said and what he promised to the American people, because it’s making him look like a fool,” Greene said.

Questions follow Trump’s abrupt end to NBC interview

The criticism follows a high-profile interview that aired Sunday, during which Trump repeatedly clashed with Welker over election integrity claims, California vote counting, and other political issues.

As the discussion grew increasingly tense, Trump accused major media organizations of bias and ended the interview before its scheduled conclusion. “Let’s call it quits because I’ve had enough,” Trump said before walking away from the conversation.

The interview drew significant attention after Trump insisted he never guaranteed there would be no new wars under his presidency, despite numerous campaign speeches and public appearances in which he promoted a foreign policy focused on ending conflicts and avoiding new military engagements.

Collins later asked Greene whether she believed Trump remembered making those promises or had changed his position.

“I don’t, I’m not really sure,” Greene responded. “But I think that, you know, his team, his staff, who are supposed to help the president, advise the president and make sure that he is truthful and honest and transparent with the American people, they should be showing him his previous videos.”
