WASHINGTON DC: Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene faced a wave of online criticism on Saturday following her remarks about Admiral Rachel Levine, the first openly transgender federal official confirmed by the US Senate.

Levine, who has served as the assistant secretary for Health for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) since 2021, is reportedly a strong advocate for gender-affirming care for individuals undergoing puberty, a stance that she affirms is highly supported by President Joe Biden's administration, per Newsweek.

Over the past few years, conservative legislators have been reportedly pushing to restrict the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, with numerous bills targeting these issues introduced across the country.

Among the Republicans leading this charge is Greene, who has been particularly active in opposing trans-related matters.

On X, previously known as Twitter, Greene posted her response to a video of Levine on Saturday.

The video, produced by the HHS for Black History Month, aimed to highlight the unequal impact of climate change on the Black community.

"Here is a man pretending to be a woman claiming the climate is hurting Black Americans more than others. This is the Democrat Party. Mental illness on full display," the congresswoman stated.

Some users on X have criticized Greene for her remarks about Levine and the transgender community.

A user tweeted, "Quite an accomplished career unlike you."

Another person remarked, "You are besties with Kitara Ravache or should I say George Santos... We all know how hypocritical you are.."

"How about having an open mind to being accepting and inclusive of other people who are different than you? If that had been the case since you took office, you could have done more for the American people," added another.

Another person remarked, "Wow, you managed to get sexism, racism, homophobia and climate denial in one belch. You really should be on vacation figuring out your new career path, not clowning around on social media. Even the Repuglicans don’t want you."

A user mentioned, "What the f**k is your problem??? She can be whatever she wants. You certainly didn’t have a problem with George Santos pretending to be a woman! You disgusting sorry excuse for a human being! Reported! Your spreading hate towards transgender people!!"

A person trolled, "Here’s a woman pretending to be a good Christian but every time she opens her mouth it gives her failure away."
