WISCONSIN, MILWAUKEE: Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga) criticized a news reporter during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

She accused the journalist of contributing to political division and the attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump.

In an interview with the Times of London radio, Greene expressed her support for Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio), before launching an attack on the press.

Marjorie Taylor Greene accuses the reporter of demonizing Republicans

When reporter Jo Crawford asked Greene about Vance’s controversial statement regarding the United Kingdom, Greene pivoted to criticize Democrats and the media.

“Well, let’s talk about the words of the Democrats,” Greene said, according to The Hill.

“Demonizing him [Trump] so much that a young man, a 20-year-old, which is hard to imagine, actually climbed onto a roof and tried to murder president Trump," she continued.

Crawford tried to interject, but Greene cut her off, stating, “Let’s talk about people like you, who have demonized people like me [and] president Trump.”

Greene then stated that she received numerous death threats as a result of what she considers misleading news reports.

“Shame on you. You’re the problem. You’re ridiculous. And you’re the problem in our country. You lie about people like me; this is the first time you’ve ever talked to me,” she told the reporter.

Crawford tried to continue the interview but Greene shut her down.

"You don’t get to ask any more questions. I’m done with you, because you’re the cause of… our country being divided," Greene said.

"You’re the cause of president Trump almost being assassinated; you’re the cause of everything wrong in America," she continued.

These comments came just days after the shooting at Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania , which resulted in Trump being wounded and one spectator killed.

Two other attendees were injured in the incident. The shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was fatally shot by authorities shortly after firing at the former president from a nearby roof.

Internet reacts to Marjorie Taylor Greene’s comments about media being the cause of Donald Trump's assassination attempt

There were mixed responses on the internet to Greene's comments with some saying her assertions were true while others suggesting Trump was himself to blame.

One user on X wrote, “And it's comments like that that keeps this country from uniting.”

Another commented, “Donald Trump has only himself to blame.”

Some users noted the irony with one writing, “By a Republican, with an AR15 style rifle which Democrats tried to ban?”

Another pointed out, “@RepMTG continues to forget that a registered Republican tried to assassinate Trump.”

Criticism of Greene also surfaced with one user saying, “She’s among the least intellectual members to ever enter the halls of Congress."

Another user added, “If Trump isn't the cause of Jan 6th then the media is also not the cause of Trump's assassination attempt.”

Many others voiced agreement with Greene’s perspective, stating, “She’s not wrong.”

"She was asking you hard questions and you couldn't handle it, so you attacked her. You're an embarrassment. You should be expelled from Congress," wrote one.
