WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene's anti-Ukraine aid amendment to the annual Defense bill did not pass the House of Representatives as her Republican colleagues joined the Democrats to vote it down on Thursday, June 13.

The lower chamber voted 74-343 against the Georgia lawmaker's amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), with 138 of her Republican colleagues on the floor rejecting her measure, according to The Hill.

“None of the funds made available by this Act may be used for assistance to Ukraine," was a primary demand in Greene's amendment.

During a debate on the House floor on Thursday, House Armed Services Committee Chair Mike Rogers disagreed with Greene, pointing out that this year's NDAA does not assign any funds for Ukraine, and that amount was appropriated through the supplemental appropriations bills.

Rogers, a Republican lawmaker from Alabama, pointed at how Greene's anti-Ukarine measure could impact the functioning of marines at the US Embassy in Kyiv.

“The problem with this amendment is it would cut off funds to maintain the deployment of Marines to secure our embassy in Kyiv, and it would also cut off the DOD’s ability to conduct and use monitoring of weapons systems in the US already has provided to Ukraine,” the GOP lawmaker who urged his colleagues to vote against the amendment said.

“We don’t want them to fall into bad hands, we need to ensure those weapons stay in our hands. I urge members to oppose this amendment," Rogers added.

Greene, a vocal opponent of additional US assistance to Ukraine, claimed that a nearly $300 million fund for the Defense Security Cooperation Agency assigned by the NDAA was used to assist Ukraine.

The congresswoman from Georgia, a hardcore ally of Donald Trump, has argued against the US sending more assistance to Ukraine to support its fight against the Russian invasion. Instead, she insisted on allocating the funds to address domestic issues, including the crisis at the southern border.

During her debate on the House floor on June 13, she reiterated the argument, noting funding Ukraine's war "does not ensure our nation’s security, it actually puts us at risk with possible further military engagement with another nuclear-armed nation, and that is Russia."

"Americans do not support this and neither does the majority of the majority here in Congress, which have voted against funding the war in Ukraine," Greene added.

The Republican further cited how "Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars" were used to assist a foreign country's war while the US border was being invaded, along with human trafficking and an average of 300 Americans dying due to fentanyl overdose.

Nevertheless, Greene was unperturbed after her measure failed in the House and admitted she did not have the support of the entire conference.

"But I strongly stand, and the overwhelming support of the American people don’t want their money going to Ukraine," she said after the voting.

Internet ridiculed Marjorie Taylor Greene as House GOP votes down her amendment

Netizens mocked the lawmaker as her amendment was voted down with the support of the majority of House Republicans.

One user wrote, "A majority of Republicans joined with Democrats to vote down REP Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R) amendment to prevent any funds in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) from going towards assistance for Ukraine. A stunning insult, voting 74-343 on Greene's amendment."

"That's ol' 'bleach blonde bad butch body' for ya…please do your job and stop trying to be a disruptor!' another remarked, citing a recent comment by Rep Jasmine Crockett against Greene.

A third user added, "Marjorie Taylor Greene rebuked by her own Party. Again She pushes an amendment that no money from the annual defense bill can be used towards assistance in Ukraine The vote? 343-74 against. That’s 138 Republicans joining all Democrats How embarrassing for GA Dist 14," someone else chimed in.

"MAGA is a dysfunctional stain of a malignant minority on America's politics," a fourth one said, referring to the lawmaker's staunch support of Trump's MAGA movement.

One response read, "Glad the far right #MAGA crazies are starting to lose steam. I think US politics will be back to normal in 1-2 election cycles as the crazies from both the left and right loses mainstream support."

Another person wrote, "It sure is nice to watch @mtgreenee get slapped down over and over again. Hillbilly rein is over, trailer park mattress."
