WASHINGTON, DC: Missouri Republican Rep Mark Alford has criticised Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show, calling it "disturbing" and asserting that it "could be much worse than the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction."

The congressman further stated that he has many questions for the broadcasters and plans to discuss the matter with Brendan Carr at the FCC.

Mark Alford probes 'disturbing' Super Bowl lyrics

During an interview on 'Real America’s Voice,' Alford expressed his concerns about the show where Bad Bunny performed hits like 'Yo Perreo Sola' and 'Safaera.'

He told the outlet that his team is looking into the details of the event. “The Bad Bunny bad performance at the Super Bowl, we’re still investigating this,” Alford said.

He added, “There’s a lot of information that has come out about the lyrics. I saw the halftime show — switching back and forth with the TPUSA halftime show. The lyrics from what we’ve seen from Bad Bunny are very disturbing.”

Comparing Bad Bunny to Janet Jackson's 2004 wardrobe malfunction

Alford suggested that the FCC should get involved because he believes the performance went too far.

Even though he does not speak the language, he is worried about the translated content of the songs.

“And if it holds true — I don’t speak fluent Spanish, okay, I know how to ask where the bathroom is — but if it’s true what was said on national television, we have a lot of questions for the entities that broadcast this and we’ll be talking with Brendan Carr from the FCC about this. This could be much worse than the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction,” Alford stated.

He noted that while the Jackson incident was an accident, he believes Bad Bunny’s set “was intentional.”

Other Rep leaders demand inquiry into 'smut'

Other Republican leaders, including Rep Andy Ogles, have also called for a formal inquiry into the NFL and NBCUniversal.

Ogles described the show as "pure smut" and claimed it was unfit for families.

In a post on X, Ogles wrote, “The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show was pure smut, brazenly aired on national television for every American family to witness. Children were forced to endure explicit displays of gay sexual acts, women gyrating provocatively and Bad Bunny shamelessly grabbing his crotch while dry-humping the air.”

He further criticized the song meanings, adding, “And if that weren’t outrageous enough, the performance’s lyrics openly glorified sodomy and countless other unspeakable depravities. These flagrant, indecent acts are illegal to be displayed on public airways.”
