Mark Wahlberg says his daughter thinks he and wife Rhea Durham are ‘complete idiots’ in many, many ways'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mark Wahlberg is having quite a time raising young adults.
The actor, 52, shared some of the challenges he faces as a father'of-four in a recent interview at the premiere of his new movie 'The Family Plan.'
Mark Wahlberg says his children are not impressed by his rap skills
In the movie, Wahlberg and his co-star Michelle Monaghan rap to the hit Vanilla Ice song 'Ice, Ice Baby' — a callback to his past era as a rap star in the 1990s.
However, the actor admitted that his children were not very enthusiastic about his performance.
“Marky Mark wouldn’t have done Vanilla Ice. I’m a little bit more amendable now. I think it was one of those things where it was fun,” he said.
He added that he did not get much feedback from his children. “I’ve got a teenager who won’t stop playing video games. I’ve got a daughter who thinks she knows everything and [me and my wife] are complete idiots in many, many ways,” he revealed, as reported by People.
Mark Wahlberg regrets not going to college after visiting his daughter
Wahlberg’s eldest daughter, Ella, 20, is currently studying at Clemson University in South Carolina.
The proud father said that he visited her during parents’ weekend and was amazed by college life, OK Magazine reports.
“We just went to parents’ weekend, you know, with the sorority girls and the frat house. It was like, ‘Oh my God,’” he recalled.
“I definitely felt like I never really had too many regrets about not going to college until I saw [that],” he added, stating that his daughter is “just so happy there” and “really thriving.”
Mark Wahlberg moved his family to Nevada for a better life
The Boston native recently relocated his entire brood from California to Nevada to give them a more settled life outside Hollywood. He said the move was motivated by his children’s interests and goals.
“It’s really giving the kids a chance to thrive. It just has the best of both worlds. I know a lot of people, when they think Las Vegas, they think the Strip,” he explained.
“But just about 15, 20 minutes away, there’s a whole lot of other amazing areas that are all about family and community. It was really about giving the kids an opportunity to pursue their goals and dreams," he added.
Wahlberg also said he has some projects of his own in the works such as creating a studio and building a shoe factory. He said he wants to “create lots of jobs” in his new home state.
Wahlberg and his wife Rhea Durham, 45, have been married since 2009. They share sons Michael, 17, Brendan, 15, and daughter Grace, 13.
