WASHINGTON, DC: Mary Trump sharply criticized her uncle, President Donald Trump, over the ongoing conflict involving Iran, describing the situation as a crisis created by the United States itself.

The psychologist and author, who has long been an outspoken critic of the president, did not hold back as she placed the blame squarely on Trump’s leadership.

Mary Trump says Iran crisis is 'a nightmare of America’s own making'

Mary Trump’s comments came as tensions around the US-Iran conflict continue to dominate political discussions in Washington. In her remarks, she argued that the situation reflects what happens when leadership lacks competence and understanding of history.

“This is a nightmare of America’s own making,” Mary said. “This is what happens when you put in charge people as incompetent, greedy, corrupt and quite frankly stupid as Donald Trump.”

She added that the problems unfolding now stem from deeper issues within the administration.

“Those who have never learned from history because they’ve never learned history,” Mary said.

Mary Trump has long criticized Donald Trump’s presidency

Mary’s latest remarks are part of a long-running feud between the two family members.

Over the years, she has emerged as one of Trump’s most vocal critics, often using her writing and public commentary to question his leadership.

In a previous Substack post titled "The Good in Us," Mary shared concerns about what she described as growing instability in her uncle’s presidency.

In the piece, she wrote that the Republican leader “has lost the ability to control the narrative,” something she said has created “devastating uncertainty about our country’s future.”

She also suggested that the political tactics that once helped Trump shape public perception were no longer working.

“The strategy of lying, spinning, and obfuscating isn’t effective anymore,” Mary wrote.

She continued by saying that where her uncle once appeared powerful to some supporters, he now seems diminished.

“Where, at least to a certain group of people, he looked strong, forceful, and full of fight, he now appears diminished to the point of impotence,” she wrote.

Mary Trump warns of uncertainty under Donald Trump’s leadership

In the same post, Mary argued that the challenges facing Trump have only become more complicated over time.

She wrote that the president’s problems have piled up and that ignoring them will not make them disappear.

According to her, Trump might try to act as though those issues do not exist, but convincing others of that is far more difficult.

“Convincing others they don’t requires more than yelling at reporters or telling people not to trust their own lived experiences,” she wrote.

Mary also warned that the country appears to be approaching a dangerous moment politically.

She said the US is “on the precipice of something awful,” though she added that the country still has the ability to pull back from that edge.

Her outlook for Trump himself, however, was far more pessimistic.

Mary argued that the president’s political path appears to be heading in the wrong direction. “He is on a slippery slope down which he will continue to slide,” she wrote.
