WASHINGTON, DC: After Donald Trump explicitly branded Republican Representative Thomas Massie as the "Worst Republican Congressman in History" just 48 hours before Kentucky’s primary election, Massie said it will help him boost his fundraising for the campaign.

Sharing a post on Truth Social on Sunday, May 17, Trump urged voters in the state's 4th Congressional District to "vote the bum out" on Tuesday.

Thomas Massie says Trump's attack will boost his fundraising

Appearing on ABC’s 'This Week', Massie said, “I think that’s going to help my fundraising at ThomasMassie.com. Every time he tweets about me, it’s good for, you know, some money coming in, because people don’t like that.”

“And you know, how did this race become the most expensive race in the history of Congress for a primary is because three billionaires from outside of Kentucky have funneled millions of dollars in here, they’re trying to buy a seat,” he added.

Massie said billionaires Miriam Adelson and Paul Singer have “dumped money” into the contest to “buy” his seat in Congress.

The GOP contest in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District has become the most expensive primary battle in US history, with hundreds of million in advertisement in television, radio, and digital advertising.

Trump backs Ed Gallrein and calls Thomas Massie 'unreliable'

Trump has actively campaigned for Ed Gallrein to replace Massie and is sending Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to campaign on his behalf in the Bluegrass State on Monday.

The long-brewing feud recently intensified after Massie voted against the administration's top priority, the marquee tax and spending package known as the 'One Big Beautiful Bill Act', citing severe concerns over its multi-trillion-dollar impact on the national debt and domestic inflation.

After Bill Cassidy lost his re-election bid in Louisiana, President Trump wrote a post on social media urging voters in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District to vote Massie out. Notably, Trump had also urged voters not to vote for Bill Cassidy.

“Tom Massie of Kentucky, the worst and most unreliable Republican Congressman in the history of our Country, is an even bigger insult to our Nation than Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, who suffered an unprecedented loss tonight by not even being allowed to run in the Republican Primary,” the president wrote in an early Sunday morning post on Truth Social.

In a follow-up post, the president encouraged Kentucky residents to “vote the bum out” on Tuesday during the primary.

"Bad Congressman Tom Massie voted against Tax Cuts, the Border Wall, our Military and Law Enforcement," Trump stated, summarizing a pattern of opposition that has isolated the congressman from party leadership.
