Matt Rife claps back at plastic surgery rumors as he explains drastic facial transformation in new memoir
PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND: Comedian Matt Rife addressed rumors of him undergoing plastic surgery in his memoir 'Your Mom's Gonna Love Me', published on Tuesday, December 3.
Speculations had grown around the 29-year-old as his face has drastically changed in recent years. Rife attempted to put them to rest, claiming that the change was due to delayed puberty, which "hit" him "square in the face," as per Page Six.
Matt Rife's explanation for his altered appearance
Addressing his appearance, Matt Rife wrote in his memoir, "Puberty, after its sweet time for more than 20 years, finally decided to hit me square in the face."
He explained that his face went from resembling that of "a 13-year-old" to his "actual age," "like an actual grown-ish man" in a span of few months. Describing the change, the comedian said that his face grew "wider" all of a sudden and his features got "more prominent."
Rife added that he also gained a "few inches" in height at the same time. He attributed the change in his overall appearance to regularly hitting the gym to work out with his close friend and fellow comedian, Dane Cook.
"I started every day off by lifting. It cleared my head," shared Rife.
Matt Rife says there are a 'million-and-one internet conspiracies' about his drastic facial transformation
Matt Rife, who appears to be well aware of the rumors of him undergoing cosmetic surgery, wrote that his "bizarrely stunted journey through puberty" inspired "a million-and-one internet conspiracies."
He also mentioned how his comedy career appeared to "suffer" as he got "better-looking" with age, writing, "As a comic, you’re supposed to make the audience like you, right? Well, who the f**k likes attractive people? No one!"
Some experts in the field of cosmetic surgery have previously theorized that the 'Natural Selection' star got facial injections and went through other procedures. The comedian hit back at them over their opinion, claiming that they have a "frightening lack of common sense."
Rife previously addressed the issue of his arguably good looks in his stand-up routine.
During a live show in 2023, he pointed at his face saying, "This s**t just happened. Puberty hit me so disrespectfully late. I was ugly as s**t for the first 22 years of my life. Like, I know I look like every f**kboy ever. But I do identify as 'ugly person.' That does technically make me trans, um, trans-hansom. Transom."
