Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau’s sister breaks silence on 'best big brothers' killed day before her wedding
SALEM COUNTY, NEW JERSEY: Katie Gaudreau shared a moving tribute to her big brothers, Columbus Blue Jackets star Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Gaudreau.
The brothers were killed after they were struck by a suspected drunk driver while cycling in Salem County, New Jersey, on Thursday, August 29, a day before Katie's wedding.

Taking to Instagram, Katie, who had to cancel her wedding to hockey player Devin Joyce, shared the brotherhood her elder brothers shared.

“To know these two was to love these two,” she wrote on Monday, September 2, on Instagram, alongside a photo of their family.
“There are absolutely no words I have to express the bond my family shared," she added.

"The entire world knows there would never have been a John without Matty or Matty without John. The absolute best big brothers a little girl could have asked for," Katie continued in the post.
"This will never be a goodbye post because I will never stop saying your names and honoring you both. I’ll take the best care of mom, dad, Kristen, Mer, and Madeline, your babies," Katie ended the post.

The driver of the car, identified as Sean Higgins, was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.
He was arrested and charged with two counts of death by auto after reportedly hitting the brothers while trying to maneuver around an SUV on County Route 551, the New York Post reported.

Matthew’s wife Madeline Gaudreau is pregnant with the couple’s first child "Baby Tripp" due this December, her sister wrote in a GoFundMe post.
Katie and her fiance Joyce canceled their wedding which was set to take place in Gloucester City, New Jersey, on Friday, August 30.
