LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Max Ehrich has finally spoken out about his ex-fiance Demi Lovato’s engagement to Jordan Lutes after a fake Instagram account claimed to be him and posted hateful messages about the couple.

Max Ehrich denies being behind the imposter account

The actor took to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, December 20, to clear the air and distance himself from the drama, as reported by Us Weekly.

He wrote, “I am aware of the fake pages that were created to post fabricated and cruel messages about a truly joyful occasion in Demi’s life, a moment that should only be celebrated."

"That chapter of our shared lives was closed peacefully and privately a long time ago," he added. He also congratulated Lovato and Lutes on their engagement and asked to be left out of the narrative.

“From the bottom of my heart I truly wish them a lifetime of peace and happiness. I ask respectfully to be removed from this narrative and for the fake accounts and posts to cease having any relevance," he continued.

Max Ehrich's fake sccount stirred up controversy

The day Demi Lovato announced her engagement with Jordan Lutes, an Instagram account with the username @maxehrich_ went viral after sharing several photos of Ehrich and Lovato during their relationship.

One of the posts from the imposter account read, “I don’t regret anything I did, I did everything for love. Love you forever.” Another post targeted Lutes and blamed him for ruining Lovato’s happiness.

It said, “You’re the reason she won’t marry the love of her life who has always been me, now she will be unhappy for the rest of her life, and it’s your fault.”

The account has since been deleted, but screenshots of the posts have circulated online, sparking backlash and confusion among fans.

Demi Lovato found love again with Jordan Lutes

Lovato moved on from Ehrich and started dating Lutes, a singer-songwriter, in August 2022. A source told People at the time that they had a “really happy and healthy relationship.”
