WASHINGTON, DC: Congresswoman Maxine Waters, representing California's 43rd congressional district, found herself amid a storm of social media backlash following her outspoken reaction to the criminal conviction of former President Trump.

In a post where she openly ridiculed the former president, Waters faced criticism from various quarters online.

After Trump faced a historic conviction in a hush money trial, Waters didn't hold back her glee, taking to social media to express her delight.

Celebrating predictions and condemning Trump

She exclaimed, "Hallelujah!!! My predictions came true! I predicted three years ago at a speech with the Human Rights Campaign that Stormy Daniels would be the one to get Trump, my faith in the criminal justice system has been strengthened!"

In her characteristic no-holds-barred style, Waters didn't mince words, directing a sharp rebuke at Trump: "Trump shut your mouth!" She accused him of disrespecting the Constitution, "You talk about saving the Constitution? You’re the one who has disrespected the Constitution and you have supporters who believe we should get rid of the Constitution! Just shut your mouth, you’re convicted on all counts!"

 A history of confrontation

This isn't the first time Waters has aimed at Trump. Over the years, she has been an outspoken critic of his policies and behavior, often drawing his ire in return.

“Many are worried that the Judge has extended Trump’s trial date,” Waters posted Thursday night on X, formerly known as Twitter, hours after the judge’s ruling. “Not to worry! TRUMP CAN’T RUN. TRUMP CAN’T HIDE.”

Waters proceeded to offer a daring forecast, suggesting that Trump's eldest daughter would join him in prison, stating: "He will be imprisoned with Ivanka by his side!”

Social media backlash erupts

Following Maxine Waters' vocal celebration of Donald Trump's conviction, a barrage of criticism flooded social media.

One user wrote, "You are the most disgraceful person ever in politics. You never once honored the Constitution. We’re really happy when you shut that trap of yours."

Another user replied, "Shut your dumb ass up! You democrat communists are the ones destroying the entire justice system and the constitution!"

One user commented, "Maxine Waters is notorious for being one of the dumbest and most corrupt members of Congress. Lots of financial skeletons in her closet."

One replied, ".@RepMaxineWaters Trump has more than 75 million mouths! You can’t shut us all up, Comrade!!"

Another said, "How are you not in prison you called for BLM to burn down cities. Right, you are a Democrat so you are allowed?"

Another added, "You are an enemy of America."

One said, "You should be very careful with your blasphemy. God will not long be mocked.
