'Mean Girls' fans shocked on learning Rachel McAdams wore $20K wig for playing the role of Regina George
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Many fans are finding it difficult to digest the fact that Rachel McAdams was the original 'Mean Girl.'
The ‘Game Night’ star played the role of Regina George and fans probably missed it because she wore a blonde wig in the flick.
How much did Rachel McAdams' wig cost?
It was after a TikToker shared a video over the platform which was a shocking learning for many of them. "Rachel McAdams wore a $20,000 wig while playing Regina George in Mean Girls because she didn't want to bleach her hair, and after the film it sold for $600,000," user @sakuraxea captioned her clip.
The revelation on the wig first came to light in 2016 by actor Rajiv Surendra who played Kevin Gnapoor, reports Daily Mail.

“They had a wig made out of human hair by a very well-known wig maker from this little town called Stratford, Ontario,” he explained. Rajiv recalled, “So the front bit was bleach blonde, so that was her real hair, but the wig was fake. I remember walking in to the makeup and hair trailer regularly and seeing the wig being washed.”
“They actually would wash it and put this little shower cap thing on it that they would hook the blow dryer onto that would dry the wig,” he said, adding “It was like a $10,000 wig.”
The video that went viral now has 15.2 million views and comments over 3,300 from users who had no idea McAdams played the character of the Queen of North Shore High School.

Fans react to Rachel McAdams playing Regina George
“I always thought Regina and the actress from The Notebook were different,” one follower wrote while a second one said, “I was today years old when I found out Regina George is Rachel McAdams.”
“It was like last week when I found out that Regina was Rachel McAdams not Lindsay Lohan (idk why I always thought that),” confessed another.
One agreed, “The personality change from Mean Girls to The Notebook. Truly a star.” “Omg I NEVER would've thought that was a wig," a surprised fan said. “So they weren't joking when they said that her hair was insured for 10,000 dollars,” another chimed in while referring to the $20,000 price of her wig. Rachel had a successful movie release this year with 'Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret,' written and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig.
