Meghan Markle dropped by WME as she’s ‘difficult to work with’, claim sources but agency says otherwise
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Meghan Markle has reportedly been dropped by top Hollywood agency WME due to her “demanding” behavior, claim multiple sources.
As reported by Page Six, several sources have claimed that WME has left the Duchess of Sussex, 43, high and dry after months of speculation surrounding her relationship with the Hollywood agency.
Despite the rumors, the agency has denied them and clarified that they continue to represent Markle and Archewell.
Meghan Markle has not had meetings with WME boss since January 2024
As Hollywood is buzzing with reports of Meghan Markle’s deteriorating relationship with WME, the sources told the outlet that the duchess has not had any meetings with the agency’s top boss, Ari Emanuel, since January 2024.
Nevertheless, it is believed that the former ‘Suits’ actress has been meeting with Emanuel’s day-to-day agents.
Speaking with Page Six, a source shared that Markle’s association with WME was brought to an end because she was “too demanding” and “difficult to work with".
Furthermore, another insider shed light on the purported turning point in Markle’s relationship with Emanuel, while saying that the duchess had an outburst in January, just after the holidays.
The mother-of-two allegedly demanded a meeting “and expected decks and plans,” claims the source. The insider, however, could not clarify whether her demands were for herself or for her foundation Archewell - which she manages with her husband Prince Harry.
The source claimed that the incident led to a dispute with the WME powerbroker and that “Ari was done with her". The fallout was, nonetheless, confirmed by another Hollywood source.
On the other hand, another insider claimed, “I don’t know what those projects are, but WME is definitely not working on Meghan’s personal business.”
It is, however, not known when Markle was let go by the agency if she was even dropped at all.
This also comes close on the heels of the duchess rebranding her American Riviera Orchard to As Ever recently.
WME claims they have not dropped Meghan Markle
The news surrounding Meghan Markle’s alleged fallout with WME came as the royal is gearing up to launch her new Netflix lifestyle show, ‘With Love, Meghan’, on March 4, Tuesday.
However, among the multiple claims surrounding her relationship with the firm, a representative for WME clarified that they still represent the wife of Prince Harry.
The WME representative claimed, “WME continues to represent Meghan and Archewell.”
The duchess has been with the agency since April 2023 and has previously worked with WME top brass agents like Brad Slater, who represents Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Jill Smoller, who closely works with tennis champion Serena Williams.
