LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The trailer for the second season of Meghan Markle’s Netflix lifestyle series 'With Love, Meghan' has sparked controversy ahead of its release.

While the preview featured several celebrity cameos, one appearance, of Chrissy Teigen in particular, has left a sour note among viewers.

As part of a celebrity montage, Chrissy Teigen is shown enjoying a crafting session with Meghan inside the Duchess’ home. “Oh my gosh, I could do this every day,” Teigen tells her partner during the scene.

The backlash stems from 2021, when Teigen faced intense criticism after abusive tweets from 2011 resurfaced, including a direct message to then-16-year-old Courtney Stodden urging them to take their own life.

Stodden, who came out as non-binary in 2021, was under heavy scrutiny at the time for marrying 50-year-old actor Doug Hutchinson.

Teigen publicly apologized, saying she was “mortified and sad” about her past behavior.

“I was an insecure, attention-seeking troll. I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behavior, but that is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel,” she wrote. “These were not my only mistakes and surely won’t be my last as hard as I try but god I will try!!”

Meghan Markle’s past stance on bullying draws scrutiny

Critics noted that the inclusion of Chrissy Teigen appeared inconsistent with Meghan’s public advocacy against cyberbullying.

In October 2023, Meghan, as reported by Vanity Fair, told teenage girls at Girls Inc in Santa Barbara that she considered herself “one of the most bullied people in the world.”

Earlier that year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Foundation launched the Parents’ Network to support families affected by social media-related harm.

Observers contrasted Teigen’s cameo with Markle’s 2020 decision to distance herself from former friend Jessica Mulroney after Mulroney’s dispute with influencer Sasha Exeter over white privilege.

Despite Teigen’s past controversy, she has remained close to Meghan, particularly since the Sussexes moved to California in 2020, according to the Daily Mail.

Internet reactions accuse Meghan Markle of hypocrisy for featuring Chrissy Teigen

Social media erupted after the trailer dropped, with many users questioning Meghan Markle’s choice.

One user commented, “Its no surprise these two no-talent, camera-chasing grifters are friends. Meghan Markle and Chrissy Teigen are everything that's wrong with our culture.”

“H&M launched a program to help support parents of children affected by online bullying, M has Chrissy Teigen as a guest on part 2. I hope the parents who bought into their scam see what disgusting hypocrites they are” another user said.

Others were blunt in their disapproval. “Good morning. These are the people Netflix have chosen to elevate. We shall not let Meghan Markle or Chrissy Teigen ever forget who they really are,” wrote one more.

“Haha! Global icons? Never heard of most of them. Chrissy Teigen the cyber bully? She should have plenty in common with old Twerkle the staff bully! If it's anything like the first episodes it will be panned globally,” said another.

“Oh dear. Chrissy Teigen AND Jamie Kern Lima??!!? This is gonna be a HARD hate watch,” added another viewer.
