LONDON, ENGLAND: Meghan Markle has been urged to “put all the past behind her” and return to the UK after King Charles, 75, was diagnosed with a form of cancer earlier in February.

While her husband Prince Harry has made a few trips to his native place in the last few months, the Duchess of Sussex hasn’t visited the UK since Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in September 2022. If reports are to be believed, however, that might soon change.

It has recently been speculated that the ‘Suits’ actress is considering a move back to the UK after the Sussexes stepped back from their roles as working royals and relocated to Montecito, California in January 2020.

Royal commentator Lydia Atly recently shared with Daily Express US that as the 75-year-old British monarch is facing health woes, it “would be lovely” if he could spend some time with Harry’s children Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet Diana, two.

Royal commentator speculates Meghan Markle’s UK return

During an interview with the outlet, the royal commentator speculates on the chances of Markle’s return to the royal fold.

Lydia Atly propounded, "I think it would be lovely, especially during this time, for the King to spend special time with them.”

She explained, "When Meghan moved to the US and took Prince Harry with her and her children, I personally didn’t think she was happy neither once she left or about the idea she would want to return to the UK.”

The royal commentator continued, “[She] left the institution to start a new life in California,” before noting, “I think in this current state of affairs with regard to King Charles's recent diagnosis, I personally believe she should put all the past behind her.”

She added that the ailing king might want to spend some quality time with his grandchildren, saying, "Her children, Lili and Archie, need to see their grandfather. Of course, we don't know the full story; she might want to see her family in the UK and might be skeptical of her family's safety."

Prince Harry is ‘keen’ to return to the UK

These speculations came at a time when it has been rumored that the Duke of Sussex is looking forward to a return to the UK.

After Harry visited his father on February 6 upon learning about his health, a source close to the Sussex spilled to OK! Magazine, "Harry is very keen for his entire family to join him."

The source explained, "It’s important for him that they show a united front and focus on building bridges with the rest of the royal family."

Another source close to Sussexes also shared that while Harry is looking forward to joining his family in Britain, Meghan “may be apprehensive” about the move after previously finding her stay in the UK “uncomfortable.”

During a February interview with ‘Good Morning America’, Prince Harry opened up about his father’s health while talking about his visit to the king.

"I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could," Harry told ABC News’ Will Reeve in an interview.

Harry added,  "Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that."

Declining to comment further on the monarch’s health, the Duke added, "I’ve got other trips planned that will take me through the UK, or back to the UK, and so I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can."

He even replied affirmingly when asked about the reunifying effect his disease might have had on the family.

After replying, "Yeah, I'm sure," before adding he has seen it firsthand among the Invictus athletes.

"Throughout all of these families, I see it on a day-to-day basis,- again, the strength of the family unit coming together," said the Montecito Duke before adding, "So, yeah, I think any illness, any sickness, brings families together. I see it time and time again, and that makes me very happy."
