Meghan Trainor opens up about new holiday song

Meghan Trainor recently opened up about her new holiday song with Jimmy Fallon.

During her appearance on ‘Today’ show, she told Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie, “They're like, 'He's working up another one, he's working up a whole Christmas album, it's gonna be huge,'" recounting that she later received a call from a friend conveying the news that Fallon expressed interest in collaborating with her.

Fallon joined the conversation, revealing to Kotb and co-host Guthrie that he initially "sent Meghan a voicemail of what [he] thought the song could be," titled ‘Wrap It Up.’

After playing the original voice memo, showcasing his acoustic vocals and eliciting laughter from Kotb and Guthrie, Fallon humorously added, "Let's just say, I didn't hear back from Meghan Trainor for three months."

Trainor explained that she "didn't know how to respond."

"I was like, okay, I have to fix this, and then I have to respond like, 'That was so good, Jimmy!'" she joked.

Trainor mentioned suggesting a "doo-wop thing" instead.

Eventually, the two got on a call together, with Fallon recalling Trainor telling him that she "worked on a scratch too."

He added, "And her scratch is 1,000 times better. It was basically the song."

She told Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, “I need a daughter to even it out, you know? I want four kids.”

Trainor continued, “All boys or whatever they want to be. Four!”

Kotb questioned, “Why that number?”

Trainor responded, “I was one of three and I loved it but there was a lot of two against one,” adding, “I was the only girl, so it was always them against me.”
