WASHINGTON, DC: A heated war of words broke out on Wednesday, February 18, between Megyn Kelly and Chris Cuomo, with both escalating the clash on X.

The bitter public feud was sparked by Cuomo’s criticism of commentators covering the presumed kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie- a case Kelly has repeatedly discussed on her podcast 'The Megyn Kelly Show'.

What began as a media critique quickly spiraled into name-calling, accusations of jealousy and references to past controversies involving Cuomo and his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

During the Tuesday episode of her show, Kelly did not hold back while reacting to a clip of Cuomo taking aim at what he described as “sloppy influencers and would-be sleuths” speculating about Guthrie’s disappearance for “clicks and ragebait.”

In the segment, Kelly told viewers, “I’ll show you what the douchebag Chris Cuomo is saying. In fact, let's just play it now.”

She went on to describe him as “very upset that Ashleigh Banfield and yours truly have raised questions about the brother-in-law.”

After airing Cuomo’s remarks, which included photos of Kelly displayed onscreen, she sharpened her attack, referring to him as “Fredo Cuomo” and mocking his audience size.

“Nobody watches his show on NewsNation, and I mean nobody,” she said. “Nobody watches his failed podcast either. Nobody watched his serious radio show, nobody watched him on CNN.”

Kelly continued, “He gets upset at anybody who does well, like our show, which is always one of the top three conservative podcasts in the nation. It’s currently number one on Apple. Fredo doesn’t like that.”

She further claimed that Cuomo had previously tried to silence her criticism.

“Fredo actually called my lawyer, who he happened to use briefly on a legal matter and begged the lawyer to get me to stop mentioning him,” Kelly alleged. “He didn’t want me to attack him because it hurt his little feelings.”

Chris Cuomo fires back after attack

The exchange intensified when Kelly broadened her criticism to include Cuomo’s brother, Andrew Cuomo, referencing “his many problems in grabbing women,” an apparent allusion to the allegations that led to Andrew Cuomo’s resignation as governor in 2021.

Kelly also brought up allegations made against Chris Cuomo during the same period, suggesting a pattern of behavior “that runs in the family.”

Cuomo responded shortly after the segment aired, posting directly to X.

“Get over yourself, little hater,” he wrote. “Odd language choice for a mom with young kids. Classy.”

Kelly responded again on the platform, escalating the rhetoric further.

“Fredo, I know your thing is harassing women (runs in the family!) but your focus on me is getting creepy,” she posted.

The back-and-forth quickly gained traction online, drawing reactions from supporters and critics of both hosts.
